Boston Ballet's 'Pricked' Running at Boston Opera House Through May 18th 

The Boston Ballet's "Pricked" is a visually arresting repertory program. Featuring two American premieres and the return of Harald Lander's "�tudes," it is being performed at the Boston Opera House. 

 

The diverse program highlights Boston Ballet's versatility, features Petr Zuska's moving and passionate "D.M.J 1953-1977," Alexander Ekman's audacious "Cacti," and Lander's highly visual homage to classical technique, "�tudes." 

 

The show is running through May 18th. The Boston Opera House is located at 539 Washington St. Click here for tickets.

Macallan Scotch Dinner at Parker's Restaurant on May 18th 

Parker's Restaurant (Omni Parker House) is hosting a Macallan Scotch Dinner on Sunday, May 18th

The menu includes 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old Macallan Scotches, and two other alcohol offerings. The main entree is a slow-roasted salmon with tomato ginger jam over cumin-scented quinoa and black rice with roasted broccoli steaks. A salad, sorbet, cheeses, and more are also part of the meal. Lafayette City Center Unveils Dazzling New Renovated Lobby

 

The Lafayette City Center (LCC) unveiled its new renovated lobby with a debut party on May 8th. Abbey Group President and Downtown Boston BID Board Director David Epstein, (above right) spoke of downtown's ongoing renaissance and the Abbey Group's commitment to the district's revitalization. 

 

Visitors are greeted at the main entrance of the lobby at Avenue de Lafayette with the mosaic artwork pictured below.  

The Lafayette City Center will welcome many new tenants, including the tech firm Carbonite, which just signed a 50,000-sq.-ft. lease at LCC. The Lafayette City Center lobby is located at 2 Avenue de Lafayette.

Freedom Trail Tour Schedule Expands 

The Freedom Trail Foundation tours expanded its tour schedule on May 1 and is now offering 10 tours available from two locations: the Visitor Information Center on Boston Common and ArtsBoston BosTix booth at Faneuil Hall
 

 

 

Walk Into History Tours - long the Foundation's most popular visitor experience - are offered daily on the hour every hour from the Boston Common Visitor Information Center from 11 am to 4 pm. Suffolk University Center for Real Estate Hosting Development Seminar    

 

Stay on top of the latest trends and practices in the world of real estate with the Suffolk University Center for Real Estate's 6-Week Professional Development Program. The Center's first educational seminar is "Anatomy of a Real Estate Development Project: 20 Somerset St."    

Using Suffolk University's $62 million development project at 20 Somerset St. (pictured above), you will learn how a real estate project is organized and executed. Topics include: acquisition, permitting and approvals, market analysis, construction, community relations, design and financing. This program is geared towards architects, lawyers, consultants, lenders, brokers, construction managers, property managers, university and healthcare facility planners, and others interested in the public and private development process.

    

Registration costs vary from $475 to $595. This program will take place on six consecutive Wednesday sessions from May 21st to June 25th from 6 to 8:30 pm. Click here for more information and to register.

Boston Shines Volunteers Spruce Up Winthrop Square, City Hall Plaza and 125 Summer Street

Volunteers from local businesses got down and dirty at several Downtown Boston spots as part of Boston Shines this past Friday.

Armed with gloves, shovels, rakes, trowels, and lots and lots of mulch, volunteers cleaned up Winthrop Square, City Hall Plaza, and 125 Summer St. Employees from the Hyatt Regency Boston, Chen PR, Forest City Boston, The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Properties and more, teamed up together as they picked up litter, removed weeds and planted seedlings.

Downtown Boston Home Tour a Smashing Success 
 
 
The Downtown Boston Home Tour attracted many visitors this past Saturday like Caroline Wood and Evan Glover, pictured below.
 
"We came to see the housing in the area and we love the housing down here," said Glover from the balcony of a 45 PROVINCE condo on the tour. "We didn't even realize the Devonshire was apartments - I thought it was an office building."

"We were thrilled with this year's home tour, as we had more participants than ever before from empty nesters to young professionals," said Kristen Flanagan, project manager for the BID. "This was the BID's most successful home tour yet. The Downtown Boston BID would like to thank all of our sponsors, including Salvatore's Restaurant, which served as the hospitality suite for tour attendees; Roche Bros., which donated food for home tour locations, and had Chef Brian Dunn perform three cooking demos at the Old State House Plaza."

The Swinging Johnsons a Big Hit at Dewey Square's First Boston Calling Block Party     

The Boston Calling Block Party Series kicked off last Thursday with live entertainment from the Swinging Johnsons. The series continues on Thursday, May 15th, with Hot Like Fire performing at the block party's new location this year - Dewey Square. Crash Line Productions, in partnership with the

Downtown Boston Business Improvement District (BID) and The Rose Kennedy Greenway, are co-hosting the 2014 Boston Calling Block Party series. The parties will be held every Thursday from 5-8 pm in Dewey Square, directly across from South Station. 

 

All events are free and open to the public. Click here to learn more about the block parties. The farmer's market and food truck pavilion will also be open during the block parties, offering farm fresh local produce and artisanal items.

Pepe Portilla Next in Berklee Performances Series, Summer Street Market on Wednesday and Fridays

The Berklee Performances Series, featuring students from the Berklee College of Music, debuted last week and will continue through August.

Wanted For Downtown Boston BID 

The Downtown Boston BID is seeking a Landscaping Team Leader Ambassador. This Ambassador will provide customer service, hospitality, and operational procedures while leading and managing the team in landscaping services throughout the downtown district.    

 
Duties include: managing shift duties of the Clean and Safe ambassadors, observing and reporting on cleanliness of the district, advising on plant selections, planting and maintaining containers/beds/borders, instructing and supervising sub-contractors, and more. A valid drivers license is required, as is the ability to lift 50 pounds or more when needed.
