'Lebensraum' - Live Action Silent Movie at the Paramount Center 

Two men, one tiny room. That's just about all "Lebensraum" - a live-action silent movie - needs to create a joyful and surprising evening of theater at Emerson College's Paramount CenterWith a knowing nod to Buster Keaton, creator Jakop Ahlbom, along with a supremely gifted cast and the band Alamo Race Track have fashioned a classic that is as fresh as the paint on their faces. Lebensraum translates to habitat in German.

Freedom Trail Offering Unprecedented Tour Schedule 

Starting April 1st, the Freedom Trail Foundation tour times from the Boston Common Visitor Information Center will be doubled to include 11 am, noon, 1 and 2 pm tours 

Also, Freedom Trail Foundation tours will expand its tour schedule on May 1, with 10 tours available from two locations: the Visitor Information Center on Boston Common and ArtsBoston BosTix booth at Faneuil Hall.  


All Freedom Trail Foundation walking tours with 18th-century costumed guides are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors/students, and $8 for children. Tickets may be purchased at the Visitor Information Center on Boston Common, ArtsBoston BosTix booths at Faneuil Hall and Copley Square, or online at TheFreedomTrail.org. Hubway Stations and Bikes Back in Downtown Boston 

Hubway bikes are out and ready to be rode throughout Boston, like from the bike depot at Franklin and Arch streets (pictured below).

Donate to the Lieutenant Walsh - Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund

A Lieutenant Walsh-Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund has been established in honor of the two Boston Firefighters who gave their life in the line of duty on March 26th.  
    
Donations will be accepted for the families of Lt. Ed Walsh, above right, and Firefighter Mike Kennedy, above left, by mail, or by sending a check to: Lieutenant Walsh-Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund, Boston Firefighters Credit Union, 60 Hallet Street, Dorchester, MA 02124.

The Downtown Boston BID's Ambassadors provide services seven days a week, nearly 24 hours a day, including powerwashing and graffiti removal, starting April 2, 2014.

BID's Begonias are Abloom and Coming Soon to Downtown Boston

Spring has sprung and soon Downtown Boston's streets will be decorated with 500 hanging pots of beautiful begonias (below) and ipomea plants.

The Downtown Boston BID works with Flora Explorer to grow our beautiful blooms, and BID staff took a field trip to the family-owned and operated Olson's Greenhouses in Raynham to see the flora and fauna growing. The plants will be hanging in the streets in May. Click here to see more photos of the flowers!
Radioshack Grand Reopening on April 10th on School Street

Radioshack is renovating many of its locations, and will hold an official grand re-opening of the Radioshack at 13 School St., on Thursday, April 10th.
Radioshack opened its first store at 167 Washington St., in Boston in 1921 (pictured below). 

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is expected to cut a ceremonial ribbon, followed by an in-store reception. This is event is from 8 to 10 am.

Two Artist Opening Receptions at Artists Crossing

The Artists Crossing is hosting two artists receptions at the cooperative fine art gallery. On Thursday, April 10th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, there will be an artist reception for South Boston watercolor painter Dan McCole (his work of the Trinity Plaza at Copley Square is below).

Boston International Film Festival at AMC Loews - April 11th to 21st

The 12th Annual Boston International Film Festival opens Friday, April 11, 2014 and runs through Monday, April 21, at the AMC Loews Theatre

   

Filmmakers, actors, producers, and other industry professionals from around the world will mingle with hundreds of movie-goers.

Reminder: Free Assistance for U.S. Citizenship on April 12th at the Irish International Immigrant Center

The Irish International Immigrant Center (IIIC) is offering all residents and employees of the Downtown Crossing area free assistance to file applications for U.S. Citizenship. The IIIC is hosting a U.S. Citizenship Workshop on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 am at its office at 100 Franklin St

Come One, Come All to Freemasons Open House on April 12th

The Massachusetts Freemasons will be holding an Open House in the Boston Masonic Building on Saturday, April 12th. Guests any age are welcome to attend the open house, regardless of an interest in joining. 

  

The open house includes conducted tours of the historic building located at 186 Tremont St. (a chamber room is picture above), at the corner of Boylston and Tremont streets from 9 am to 3 pm. Tours will highlight the incredible architecture. Reps from the Freemason fraternity will be on hand to answer questions and help guests better understand who the Freemasons are, and the work they do on behalf of the community. This event is free and open to the public.
