Don't miss this popular annual live-action quiz show at one of the nation's most important colonial historic sites, the magnificent Old South Meeting House at 310 Washington St

    

This year's competition will get your feet tapping while stumping your brain, as all things musical in Boston's past will be explored.

 

Challenge your knowledge of Boston and its music against two teams of experts and Quizmaster Susan Wilson (pictured above with fife player Dan Moylan).

The Downtown Boston BID's Ambassadors provide services seven days a week, nearly 24 hours a day, including powerwashing and graffiti removal, starting April 2, 2014.

Thank You Sgt. Lema for Your Years of Service to Downtown Boston 

After almost 18 years, Sgt. Tom Lema has been the Community Service Supervisor for Boston Police District A-1, and the Downtown Boston BID would like to congratulate him on his new internal promotion to lieutenant.  

"My role within the department will be changing with the new position. I will miss working with everyone on a day to day basis but I will still be within the police department," said Lema, whose last day at A-1 was March 28th. 

   

"Sgt. Lema's dedication and attention to the Business Improvement District has been tremendous and instrumental in the efforts to revitalize Downtown," said Steven Brookes, above left, Downtown Boston BID's Clean and Hospitality Manager. "He has been a constant presence for the property owners, residents, and workers to communicate with and has helped educate and guide all of us on how to enhance our partnership with the police." 

 

"He will be greatly missed and we know he will be extremely successful in his next role as a lieutenant for the Boston Police Department," said Rosemarie Sansone, President of the Downtown Boston BID.

 

The Boston Police Department is hosting a congratulations party for Lema to wish him the best of luck at his new position. The event will take place on Thursday, April 3rd at 5 pm at The North Star at 222 Friend St

  

Sergeant James Chin will be replacing Lema. 

Donate to the Lieutenant Walsh - Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund

A Lieutenant Walsh-Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund has been established in honor of the two Boston Firefighters who gave their life in the line of duty on March 26th.

Coalition Opens Co-Working Space at 101 Arch Street 

Looking to capitalize on the growing start-up industry in Downtown Boston, Farhan Abbasi co-founded Coalition, a co-working space on the 19th floor of 101 Arch St., which opened in late February.
     
Coalition consists of 20 individual office rooms through 7,060-sq-ft., and memberships vary from $99 to $950 a month. Members have access to amenities including high-speed internet, individual open rooms, private desks, a reception area with a receptionist, 24-hour access, beverages and a kitchen. 
 
One of the best assets about Coalition is the incredible views from the 19th floor overlooking the State House, Boston Common, and the Charles River.

44 Bromfield St. Sold for $10.8 Million 

A division of Thibeault Development has purchased 44 Bromfield Street for $10.8 million. 

  

The 42,053-square-foot Beaux-Arts style office and retail building was sold by King Bromfield LLC, which bought the building in 2006 for $9.6 million. 

 

The 8-story building was built in 1913, and according to the Boston Business Journal, is 100 percent leased to two tenants: the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services and Carney Sandoe & Associates

Free Assistance for U.S. Citizenship on April 12th at the Irish International Immigrant Center

Marathon-Themed Fundraiser for St. Francis House on April 2nd

Please join the  Emerging Leaders of St. Francis House for a marathon-themed fundraiser on Wednesday, April 2nd.  

The 6-member St. Francis running team is committed to raising $40,000 for St. Francis House, and they need help to reach that goal. 

 

Carlos Arredondo, a Boston Strong civilian hero and St. Francis House volunteer, will be the guest speaker. There will be a raffle to help runners meet their ambitious fundraising goal, including Celtics and Red Sox tickets, restaurant gift certificates, and movie tickets.

Everyone's Welcome at Freemasons Open House on April 12th

The Massachusetts Freemasons will be holding an Open House in the Boston Masonic Building on Saturday, April 12th. Guests any age are welcome to attend the open house, regardless of an interest in joining. 

  

The open house includes conducted tours of the historic building located at 186 Tremont St. (a chamber room is picture above), at the corner of Boylston and Tremont streets from 9 am to 3 pm. Tours will highlight the incredible architecture and reps from the Freemason fraternity will be on hand to answer questions and help guests better understand who the Freemasons are, and the work they do on behalf of the community. This event is free and open to the public.
