One of downtown's most cherished holiday traditions--the Boston Ballet's "Nutcracker"--is back at the Boston Opera House now through Sunday, December 29th.

"Five Teas That Brewed A Revolution" At Old South Meeting House

To colonial Bostonians, tea was the luxury item--it signaled their participation in a sophisticated global culture. Bostonians' obsession with tea goes a long way toward explaining the legendary Boston Tea Party protest of 1773.



This Thursday, December 5, at Old South Meeting House, join tea historian Bruce Richardson as he shares the history of Boston's "love affair" with tea and previews his new book, "A Social History Of Tea." Admission is free for members, $6 for adults, $5 for seniors/college students.

"Home For The Holidays": Parkman House Fundraiser

FamilyAid Boston, which works to provide shelter for Massachusetts families who are homeless, is hosting a fundraiser honoring Mayor Thomas M. Menino for his work on behalf of the homeless.

The fifth-annual Downtown Boston Holiday Market has taken the stage on Summer Street Plaza!

 

Featuring more than a dozen artisan vendors--who rotate weekly--the Holiday Market Tent is open Mondays-Saturdays, 11 am-7 am, and Sundays, 11 am-5 pm, through Saturday, December 28th (closed Christmas Day). Visit here for the vendor directory.

Holiday Parking Deals In Downtown

Boston Common Tree Lighting On Thursday

Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the City of Boston continue their storied partnership with the annual Boston Common Holiday Tree Lighting, which takes place this Thursday, December 5th, at 6 pm.



Halifax has been donating a holiday tree to Boston for over 40 years, in commemoration of the assistance Boston gave to the city following a disastrous explosion there in 1917. Visit here for the ceremony's schedule of events.
