The Holidays At Old South: Open House, Tea Party Reenactment

Old South Meeting House (310 Washington St.) celebrates the season with its traditional holiday festivals: its two-day Holiday Open House and the 240th Anniversary Boston Tea Party Reenactment!

 

The Open House takes place Friday, December 6th, though Saturday, December 7th and is free to attend. Visit here for the schedule of events. And tickets to the Tea Party Reenactment (above) are selling fast! The reenactment of the historic 1773 protest takes place Monday, December 16th, from 6:30-8:30 pm. Visit here for all the details.
"Mies Julie" at Paramount Center

Liberty Tree Park Community Info Session

Boston Parks & Recreation is about to launch a renovation of historic Liberty Tree Park, at the southwest corner of Boylston & Washington St (shown below).



Parks & Recreation is hosting an info session

The Holidays Begin: Thanksgiving Week In Downtown



Thanksgiving week has arrived, and downtown is ready to kick-off the holiday season with numerous events and celebrations.

Thanksgiving Dinners:  
  • The Hyatt Regency's Avenue One hosts a Thanksgiving dinner from 1-8 pm on Thursday, featuring maple turkey, sweet potato biscuits, and gingerbread ice cream. Call 617-422-5454 for reservations.
  • The Ritz-Carlton serves a Thanksgiving brunch from 12-6 pm on Thursday, including prime rib, Jonah crab claws, and oysters. Call 617-574-7184 for reservations and info.

Macy's Holiday Tree Lighting:

  • The downtown Macy's celebrates the arrival of the holidays with its annual holiday tree lighting extravaganza! The free show begins this Friday at 5 pm with performances by Mack Wilds, Echosmith, The Boston Children's Choir, and the Boston Pops.  
  • Also scheduled to appear are special guests Mayor Thomas M. Menino along with the  Melrose Veteran's Memorial Middle School, Red Sox player Mike Carp, and--who else?--Santa Claus.

  • Immediately after the Macy's tree lighting concludes, the 5th-annual Downtown Boston Holiday Market Tent goes up! Baker's Delight: PAUL Announces Upcoming Opening

A French bakery is set to open in downtown!
Last Friday, Mayor Thomas M. Menino and French Consul-General Fabien Fieschi welcomed PAUL bakery to One Boston Place



Launched in France in 1889, PAUL has several locations in Washington, D.C. Targeting at mid-2014 debut, the downtown store will be the first in the Northeast. Congratulations to PAUL and One Boston Place for bringing this fabulous bakery to downtown!    
Newbury Street Boutique Expands Downtown

Exciting new retail continues to open around the Walgreens emporium at Washington & School St.
The latest new store is a Lou Lou boutique, at 294 Washington St.
