Downtown Boston Welcomes Mayor-Elect Walsh & His Transition Team
In October, then-candidate Walsh stopped by Oceanaire (40 Court St.) to speak to members at the BID's 2013 annual meeting.
Congratulations to Mayor-Elect Martin J. Walsh and all the members of his campaign on their recent victory. The Walsh committee has chosen historic 100 Franklin Street, now a Webster Bank and formerly the Boston Stock Exchange, as their transition headquarters.
We welcome them to the downtown community and wish the Mayor-Elect and his team much success and a smooth transition as they plan for Boston's future. We look forward to working in 2014 with Mayor-Elect Walsh, his transition team, and all members of the newly-elected City Council. |
The Merchant Restaurant Opening Soon At 60 Franklin St.
Owned and operated by the team behind Boston's legendary Littlest Bar, the Merchant will feature 200 seats, private dining rooms, eight TVs, pull-down projectors for meetings, and much more. The menu theme is "American brasserie," with locally-sourced food and coffee and an extensive craft beer selection. Keep reading for future updates on the grand opening!

Sweet Tooth Bakery Soon To Indulge Downtown
Downtown's collection of confectioners is set to grow again, with a Sweet Tooth bakery opening imminently inside the Corner Mall.
This is the second location for Sweet Tooth, which already enjoys a major following at its South Boston location (above). Specializing in freshly-made sweets of every variety, Sweet Tooth's baked goods are already available downtown at the Walgreens emporium. Keep reading for future updates on the grand opening!

Macy's Fall Fashion Preview & New Winter Sportswear LineThe weather has finally turned chilly--and Macy's is ready! The downtown Macy's Donna Johanson and CBRE-Grossman's Andrea Matteson hosted another great "pop-up" fashion show on Summer Street Plaza last Friday afternoon. Macy's models (below) previewed the latest fall looks. In preparation for winter, Macy's has introduced the Helly Hansen winter sportswear line. Visit the Coats Department (2nd floor) to shop the collection, which includes breathable, waterproof, and windproof styles all exclusive to Macy's. "Sleeping Beauty" Awakes At Paramount
History is in the making at the Paramount Center this week, as the theater hosts a production of "Sleeping Beauty" by one of the world's oldest marionette companies, Milan's Carlo Colla & Sons.
The Boston Globe recently published a fascinating behind-the-scenes feature on Carlo Colla & Sons, run by Eugenio Monti Colla. His production of "Sleeping Beauty" includes 11 puppeteers operating 165 different marionettes. The show runs from Wednesday, November 13th-Sunday, November 17th at the Paramount. A Landmark Decision: Talk At Old South On Same-Sex Marriage RulingThis week marks the ten-year anniversary of Goodridge v. Department of Public Health, the Massachusetts SJC's first-in-the-nation ruling granting same-sex couples the right to marry. To mark this momentous milestone, Old South Meeting House hosts Mary L. Bonauto (above right), Project Director at GLAD and plaintiff's lead counsel in the Goodridge case. Bonauto will discuss the historic decision and its aftermath Wednesday, November 20th, at 6:30 pm at OSMH. The event is free to attend; please call 617-482-6439 for more info.
