Welcome Captain Hasson To Downtown

The Downtown Boston BID welcomes Captain James Hasson, the new commander for BPD Area A-1, to downtown!



A BPD veteran for 25 years, Hasson most recently served in Area E-5 (West Roxbury).
His "downtown roots" run deep, as he previously served in the North End under former Area A-1 commander Bernard O'Rourke. The BID looks forward to working with Captain Hasson on a variety of initiatives. 
NSTAR Station Parking Lot Reopening In December

The NSTAR substation parking lot, at the corner of Chauncy St. & Ave. de Lafayette, has been closed for use as staging ground for an NSTAR engineering project.

 

The parking lot is set to reopen the first week of December. In the intervening time, there are several parking garages nearby that are convenient, including at 47 Boylston St., 99 Summer St., 125 Summer St., and 1 Lincoln St. Visit here for a directory of downtown parking garages.

A Champion For All: Bill Russell Statue Unveiling On City Hall Plaza

Bill Russell--winner of 11 NBA championships, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and a tireless advocate on civil rights--will receive the honor he so richly deserves Friday, November 1st, at 2 pm, when a statue of him is unveiled on City Hall Plaza.

Created by sculptor Ann Hirsch, the statue will be unveiled by a crowd of luminaries, including Russell, NBA Commissioner David Stern, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Julius "Dr. J" Erving, and numerous Celtics stars. Congratulations to all involved in bringing to life this representation of a legendary Bostonian.

Summer Street Arts Market Closing . . . Holiday Market Coming!

is winding down, with the final market set for this Friday, October 25th, from 11 am-6 pm.

In just a month, Summer Street Plaza will come alive again with artisan vendors, as the Downtown Boston BID hosts the 5th Annual Downtown Boston Holiday Market! The Holiday Market will be open from Saturday, November 30th, through Saturday, December 28th. The Downtown Boston BID will also be hosting a variety of First Night activities on New Year's Eve.
