Freedom Trail Foundation Releases "Granary Top 100" App

Downtown's Granary Burying Ground is famous for being the final resting place of three signers of the Declaration of Independence: Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Robert Treat Paine. But what about the dozens of other important colonial figures buried there?

In celebration of one hundred of the most significant Bostonians buried in the Granary, the Freedom Trail Foundation has released "Granary Top 100," a digital app available for both iTunes and Android. Reviewed by leading scholars of Boston's colonial history, the app includes watercolor illustrations, in-depth biographies, and much more. Call 617-357-8300 for more info.

"Baritones Unbound" At Paramount Center

The baritone--the vocal range extending from the second G below middle C and the G above middle C--is the most common male voice. In celebration of the baritone's status, the Paramount Center hosts "Baritones Unbound," a tour of the range's musical history, this Tuesday, October 8th, through Sunday, October 20th.

Featuring Ben Davis, Jeff Mattsey, and Marc Kudish, "Baritones Unbound" spotlights baritone arrangements found in Gregorian chants, Gilbert & Sullivan operas, and modern Broadway classics.

"George Washington, Gentleman Warrior" At Old South Meeting House

There is no historic figure more uniquely American than George Washington. But is it possible that, in some ways, he was "more English than the English"?

Historian Stephen Brumwell, who will discuss his new book, "George Washington: Gentleman Warrior," at Old South Meeting House next Thursday, October 17th, at 6:30 pm, thinks so. According to Brumwell, Washington's obsession
with English behavioral traits helped America win its independence. Brumwell's lecture is free and open
to the public; call 617-482-6439 for more info.
