Governor Patrick Commemorates March On Washington At OSMH
Last week, Governor Deval Patrick visited Old South Meeting House to speak and ring the museum's 1801 Paul Revere bell--part of a nationwide commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s history-making "March On Washington" in August 1963.
The visit--which included Patrick's reflections on the nation's progress in overcoming racial inequality during the past half-century--underscored Old South's commitment to the right to free speech and peaceful protest. For Old South's fall calendar of events, please visit here. The museum remains open throughout its restoration, which is scheduled to finish in October.
