Hyatt Regency, 99 Chauncy St. Renovations

Avenue de Lafayette's rebirth continues with the recent completion of renovations at the Hyatt Regency and 99 Chauncy St.

The Hyatt's renovation included upgrades of the Avenue One restaurant, upper and lower lobbies, and the addition of new signage (above).

Ninety-Nine Chauncy St. finished its own lobby renovation and is also attracting "significant interest" for its restaurant space at the corner of Chauncy & Avenue de Lafayette--keep reading for future announcements!

The renovation is on-schedule to finish this spring, with a debut in late April. The 24,000-sq.-ft. emporium will include a high-end spa, sushi, and liquor store.

Artist Selected For Bill Russell Statue

Ann Hirsch, a nationally-recognized sculptor based in Somerville, was recently commissioned by the Boston Art Commission to sculpt the latest addition to City Hall Plaza, a set of statues honoring Bill Russell.

Hirsch's vision for the piece includes 11 separate figures, each representing Russell's 11 championship rings. The statues will be installed near the northwest corner of 28 State St., with an unveiling scheduled for this fall. For more information, visit the Bill Russell Legacy Project.

"All Kylian" At Boston Opera House

The Boston Ballet celebrates the arrival of its spring 2013 performance season at the Boston Opera House with "All Kylian."

Wings Of Wax

Created by choreographer Jiri Kylian, the performance is a collage of three separate pieces: "Wings of Wax," "Tar & Feathers," and "Symphony of Psalms." Raves ArtsBoston, "if you loved 'Black Or White' or 'Bella Figura,' you must see 'All Kylian.'"

"Fife Is Right" Coming To OSMH

It's back! Old South Meeting House's "Fife Is Right" trivia challenge returns on Wednesday, April 3rd, and tickets are selling fast. The theme of this year's challenge is "sand, ship, and shore": the two teams of local trivia experts will be hit with questions regarding Boston's nautical and maritime lore.

Downtown Celebrity Sightings: Tony Shalhoub, Brooke Adams

Who: Tony Shalhoub and his wife, Brooke Adams.

When: Friday, February 15th
Details: Shalhoub, most famous for his role as the obsessive-compulsive detective in the TV show "Monk," was spied at the West Street hotspot with his wife following her performance in the Modern Theatre's production of "The Last Will."
