7 Signs of Summer

Summer is upon us. School is out. Family vacations are planned. 'Tis the season for outdoor activities:

  • Festivals
  • Concerts
  • Community Markets
  • Sports Tournaments
  • Corporate Functions

Whether you are in charge of planning the entire event or your company will be represented, you will need the appropriate signage to drive traffic.

Outdoor events require different considerations when it comes to signage. The signs have to be colorful, large enough to be read from a distance and durable against any type of weather conditions.

E&E Graphic Innovations, a division of E&E Exhibit Solutions has put together a listing of seven of the sign you might consider for your summer event:

Street Signs

Signs from lamp posts, signs along the road reminiscent of the old shaving cream signs or over-sized large format digital printed signs at the entrance are great for the outdoor event. Check with for the city requirements for signage before designing and printing your signs to ensure you are in compliance.

Sheila Mass  offers some interesting color information when designing outdoor street signs:

"A survey by the University of Florida claimed that a yellow background with black lettering was the best color combination for a sign for attracting attention. Never use a low value color (light color) with a low value color. For example, pink lettering on a white background will not show up. Similarly never use a high value color with a high value color. For example black lettering on a navy blue background will not show.  Lettering and background must always be of contrasting value in order to be readable."

Directional Signs

Street signs offer some direction, however, you will also want to consider signs offering direction within the venue; signs for restrooms, areas of the event, the stage, shopping areas, etc.  Including directional signs in your event planning strategy help to make the event user friendly for those in attendance.  It is the little things that help make your event successful in the eyes of participants.

Building Signs

If there is a building(s) at your outdoor event, you may want to use the visibility of the building for additional branding and marketing signage; both for the event and for individual sponsors. In additional to vinyl banners, you might consider a building wrap.

Our on-site graphics design team prints the large format vinyl wall decals  in our state-of-the-art graphic production facility.  Our graphics professionals are also specially trained in Chromatix Digital printing, a process which ensures accurate and brilliant color output.  Our custom building graphics are made of durable, weather resistant vinyl material with UV protection for long life and consistent, vibrant color.

Banner Signs

Banner signs are the classic "go-to" when you think of outdoor signs. They are flexible, durable and available in a variety of sizes, colors and materials. Custom banners are easily designed and are durable enough to be reused for a similar event in the coming months and/or years.

Pop up Signs

Pop up display accessories and banner stand signs are quick and easy to transport and set up. These signs are great for each sponsor or vendor at their specific area of the outdoor event. They are available in a variety of sizes and can be used throughout the venue for branding, direction or the event schedule.

Lighted Signs

If your event occurs in the evening you will want to consider how visible the signs are once the sun goes down. Backlit and lighted signage maybe something to consider when planning out your event requirements.

Fence Signs

Events such as Relay for Life that occur on a sporting field can take advantage of the fence for additional marketing and branding messages. Encourage each sponsor or vendor to market to the attendees by designing and printing fence graphics which can be placed on:

  • Chain Link fencing
  • Picket fencing
  • Bleacher tops
  • Bleacher backs
  • Out-field fencing

Be prepared for your outdoor event this summer by considering the different signage options available to help make your event successful.
