LILY: 'MOMMA KITTY' finds her forever home

LILY was known at the Animal Shelter as "Momma Kitty".
She was turned in to our shelter dragging a leg that was
paralyzed due to a gunshot wound. A tiny cat herself-only 6 lbs-she
was nursing 6 kittens. Despite her leg, she was sweet, kind,
and the best of mothers. Our staff fell in love with her and asked
A-PAL to help pay for the surgery once her kittens were weaned.
She came through it fine and was put up for adoption at the
Feed Barn in search of her special forever home. Many applied,
but none seemed ideal until Margot and Alan came and fell in love.
They were happy to give this little girl the kind of care she needed
for a long and healthy life. Lily loves everyone and does not behave
like a 3-legged cat! She runs, jumps, plays and thoroughly enjoys
every day, a perfect example of how partnerships among kind
people can enrich lives.

Staff NEWS

Construction on our current Animal Shelter building began in 2004.To go with the new building, the County hired a new Director, John Vail, who started in February of 2005. He brought with him a fresh attitude and under his capable leadership the shelter has grown to be a first-rate facility, with a focus on the humane care of its residents plus a robust Adoption Program. John will retire this month, and we will miss him. The good news is his successor, Kelly Reason, has the practical experience, the wisdom, and the same caring attitude needed to maintain this as an exemplary facility well into the 21st Century. Bon Voyage,John. Welcome,Kelly.
