Academy in Action
October 2014
Celebration Honors Academy Community
The Academy's Annual Celebration of New Members continues to highlight and support the accomplishments of faculty and staff in the School of Medicine's medical education community. This year's celebration welcomed new members, saluted outstanding teachers, and honored two cherished staff members. By Mike Harper, MD
Member Spotlight: David Duong, MD, MS
I caught a glimpse of real passion and drive for "in the trenches" medical education when I interviewed new Academy at-large member David Duong, MD, MS. David's main focus in medical education is curriculum development, mentoring, and advising; and he hopes to encourage more junior clinician-educators to take advantage of scholarship opportunities with mentorship from more seasoned medical educators. Fall Meeting: Focus on Learning Technologies
Join our Technology Enhanced Learning colleagues at the November 18 AME-wide meeting as they share the evolving landscape through TEL's lens and update us on recent projects and progress in this domain. Together we'll explore the range of teachers' needs across the continuum of learners and trainees, and begin prioritizing one or two areas in which we might collaborate and innovate in the faculty development realm.

Please respond via the Outlook invitation (re-sent to members today) For assistance or questions, contact Karen Brent.
