Welcome to the pain free family!

Oregon Exercise Therapy (OET) is here to help you live, play, and be pain free. July in Portland means summer is officially here and with it comes BBQs, outdoor activities, vacations, and road trips.

Whether your summer plans include lots of driving for a family road trip or flying cross-country or internationally, this months newsletter includes Exercises for Pain Free Driving and a Workout for Busy Travelers.

July OET News also features articles about how to Stop Youth Sports Injuries and the Problem With Treating Pain.

Don't forget to tell your friends and family I offer FREE posture evaluations and consultations!
Drive Pain Free
Driving doesn't have to hurt.
Driving is something we all do in some form and we have all experienced the tightness, discomfort, and pain that can come with driving.

Whether you are a Nascar driver, long haul truck driver, bus driver, or a Uber or Lyft driver you will benefit from the improved posture, increased joint range of motion, and improved reaction speed this routine will bring.

If you commute to work daily, drive your kids to and from school, or enjoy road trips with family or friends you will appreciate the stress relief, relaxation, and pain relief these exercises will give you. Watch the video and learn the exercises.
Stop Youth Sports Injuries
There are simple steps you can take to reduce injuries.
Of the 35 million or so children involved in youth sports in the US about 10% of those are treated annually for sports related injuries. The number and severity of these injuries can be reduced by taking simple and common sense steps that come from Dr. James Andrews (a noted Orthopedic Surgeon) and Matt Whitehead (Egoscue PAS and AET). Learn More.

The Problem With Treating Pain
A treatment is not a cure.
The problem with most treatments for musculo-skeletal pain is they focus on the elimination of symptoms not the elimination of causes.

Five common treatments for pain are rest, anti-inflammatory medicines, physical therapy, cortisone injections, and surgery. None of these are addressing the cause of the pain.

To learn why these treatments don't work and how to find a real cure for common musculoskeletal pain, continue reading.
Quick Workout For Busy Travelers
Improve posture, relieve stress, increase your energy, and strengthen your body with this workout.
Traveling for work or fun can take a toll on the body. Sitting on planes, trains, and automobiles will tighten your hips and round your shoulders. Busy schedules don't give you much time to exercise. Working out in the tiny hotel gym isn't very appealing and finding a good running route in a busy new city can be overwhelming. What can you do? Try this workout for busy travelers!

Your free 30-minute appointment includes discussion of your symptoms and goals, posture evaluation, functional testing, and gait analysis. We will then discuss the different Posture Therapy options that are available to help you reach your goals.

I also know what it is like to overcome those injuries and become pain free. I used Postural Alignment Therapy to correct my posture, eliminate my pain, and return to living an active life without limitations. For the last 15 years I've been helping people just like you do the same. If you or anyone you know is suffering from chronic pain or injuries, encourage them to call me today - I'd be happy to help them.
