Certified Rural Health Clinics may apply for an Auto HPSA Designation. An Auto HPSA designates the facility as a Health Professional Shortage Area with an individual ID number. Federal and state programs require HPSA status for eligibility. For Example:
- National Health Service Corp Loan Repayment Program
- Michigan State Loan Repayment Program
- Conrad 30 J-1 Visa Program
In the event the county or region where the RHC is located has its HPSA withdrawn the RHC will maintain its HPSA status and access to these programs. It is recommended that all RHCs apply with a simple one page application.
