WELCOME, CIVIL AIR PATROL!

After relocating to Pearland Regional from Hobby, the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) held their first official search and rescue exercise last week.

According to Ray Hoctor, Lt. Col. of the CAP, this is the first time the TX 451 Squadron has been able to conduct their own staging area.

"We found the facilities perfect for our operation and very accommodating. Thank you for all your help and for Pearland Regional Airport in doing their part in this exercise, thereby allowing us to do ours," Ray said via email to FBO Manager, Leah Langford.

Please join us in welcoming the CAP and thanking them for keep our skies safe!
AIRPORT SAFETY REFRESHER
In case you missed it, the airport's updated Rules & Regulations (along with other important documents) have been published to the website. Please be sure to review them to ensure compliance.

A few important reminders:

Refueling
When using the 100LL self-service fuel pump to fill a container please ensure the container is metal and grounded at all times (Rules & Regulations Section 6.1K).

Radio Communications
All pilots are required to announce their position and intention for take-off and landing using UNICOM 122.8 at all times (Rules & Regulations Section 3.8). We've had several reports of aircraft utilizing the airport for touch-and-go practice without radio communication, resulting in unsafe operations.

Vandalism
We ask that all airport tenants, users, and residents be vigilant of vandalism on the airfield and report any unusual activity to airport management. This past month we've experienced theft of airfield lighting as well as several incidents of "mudding" (spinning in the grass and mud with a truck or other 4x4 vehicle). The latter is particularly dangerous and has resulted in damage to airport property (Rules & Regulations Sections 4.13 and 4.14).

If you witness theft or vandalism on the airport, particularly outside of FBO operating hours, we ask that you call 911.
ANTENNA TOWER UPDATE
The unlit antenna tower near the airport has a new owner. TAP has been informed that a white strobe light will be installed by March 2.

We will continue to monitor the progress and alert users once installation has been complete.
ERCOUPE RODEO

On March 21, Air Professionals and the Ercoupe Owners Association will be hosting a celebration of 75 years of Ercoupe.

Pilots will be gathering at KLVJ for fuel (coffee for the pilots, 100LL for their planes) from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm.

From there, they'll fly into Houston Hobby for the Wings and Wheels event at the 1940 Terminal Air Museum.
