Annual Conference
The Holston Annual Conference is scheduled June 5-8, 2016, at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. If you are a voting member (for example, lay member for your church/charge, district at-large member, clergy), you should have received information about registration through the U.S. mail service. If you did not, please contact the district office; we may need to correct something in the database. And if you were elected as one of the 2016 lay voting members last fall, but find you are unable to attend, be certain to let your pastor or the district office know so that action may be taken to fill the slot. We'll carry registration and information links for Annual Conference in the "quick links" section of this newsletter until June.
Attendance at Annual Conference is not limited to voting members. It is an open conference as are the missions dinner and the missions run/walk. The registration process is the same for voting members and guests, so if you will attend, register now while it is fresh on your mind.

Resurrection -- If you Missed It!
Snow and ice wasn't much of a deterrent for the young folks who attended Resurrection 2016 and RezKids 2016. Some made it to the event venue, some were snowed into cabins in the hills and participated through video streaming, and others simply gathered at their local church--also to participate through video streaming. Morristown District Youth were there! And a big thank you to the Panther Springs Youth who represented Morristown District with their gift of talent. For a complete report, see the story in The Call.T-shirts remain available and may be purchased on-line at Signal Crest UMC designed the shirt this year and has kept their on-line store open for those who did not make it to the event venue. Here's the link to the online store.

Congratulations, Holston Conference
Congratulations, Holston Conference! The second round of grant applications from the Mission Offering for Ministry with Children in Poverty revealed creative initiatives in churches from every district. Through food distribution programs, backpacks of school supplies, tutoring, and friend-building, our congregations are reaching out to their youngest neighbors. Another $53,000 was distributed in grants giving a grand total of $93,800 in ministry support so far. The next grant deadlines are February 15 and May 15. The Conference Missions Team hopes to award a grant from every district.
Visit waytogiveholston.org to submit your church's grant application and for bulletin inserts and video resources to encourage your congregation's participation in our ongoing effort to give 10 hours of sevice and $10 toward the mission offering per average worship attendee.
Thank you, Holston. You'll never know how many lives you have changed. Way to go! Way to give! ~~Holston Conference Missions |
