Board of Directors to meet in December

The AHFA Board of Directors will meet on Thursday, December 15 at 11 a.m. in the AHFA offices.

AHFA Accepts Comments on 2017 HOME/Housing Credit Allocation Plans

Following the October 11 public hearing, AHFA accepted public comments through November 10 on the draft 2017 HOME Action Plan and the Housing Credit Qualified Allocation Plan.

The Multifamily staff is currently reviewing comments from 27 individuals/companies submitted regarding the draft plan. 

The proposed plans and comments are available for download at www.ahfa.com.

Grand Openings Held for Three Developments in November

Grand openings were held across the state for three multifamily housing developments in November. All of the developments received allocations of HOME Investment Partnerships program funds and/or Housing Credits from AHFA.

  • Nov. 10: Rosedale Redevelopment, Phase III in Tuscaloosa;128 units; $583,772 in 2015 Housing Credits and $747,106 in 2014 Housing Credits
  • Nov. 15: The Arbours at Pierce Creek in Mobile; 70 units; $1.2 million in 2014 Housing Credits
  • Nov. 29: Grace Pointe in Auburn56 units; $1.45 million in 2014 HOME funds and $647,773 in 2014 Housing Credits

Debra Alford First Federal Mortgage, Tuscaloosa

Debra Alford has more than 15 years of mortgage experience, is a top performer in her area, and was a 2013 recipient of the Oliver Robinson Foundation's Black Achievers Award. Alford has been using AHFA's homeownership programs for the past 4 years and says they account for 65 percent of her monthly production.

Q: How did you hear about AHFA programs?
A: Through my company, and also through word of mouth and the AHFA website.

Q: What do you think is the greatest benefit of AHFA's programs?
A: The programs assist customers with their down payments, and help customers who don't qualify for some of the other 100 percent down payment programs.

A: The fast turnaround times and being able to speak with AHFA's loan underwriters with any concerns or issues.

Q: What do you find most rewarding about your job?
A: I love meeting and talking to people, making their dream of homeownership a reality, and seeing the smiles on their faces at closing!

Register Now for Online Year-End Statements

ServiSolutions is preparing to issue Year-End Statements (IRS Form 1098) to our customers for income tax reporting purposes. This statement includes the total amounts of interest paid and property taxes paid from your escrow account (if you have one) for the entire year.
 
If you register by December 25, you can view, print and download your statements online and will not have to wait for a paper copy to be mailed to you. This online option is free, secure, and reduces clutter.
 
Sign up for your online Form 1098 by logging into your Customer CareNet (CCN) account and selecting Statements and Documents. You can then select Year-End Statements and click the "Change My IRS Form 1098 Electronic Consent" button.
 
Check the box next to the statement, "I wish to access my IRS Form 1098 electronically. I understand that I will no longer receive a paper copy." Click submit.
 
You'll then see a message confirming the change, and an email will be sent to the email address on file also confirming this change.
 
If you are registered for Online Year-End Statements, you will receive an email notification when your statement is available. If you receive your statement by mail, we will mail it to you by January 31, 2017. In addition, you can also obtain your interest and taxes paid totals for the year after December 31, 2016, by logging into your CCN account.
 
You may also receive one or more of the following Form 1099s from us: 
  • Tax Form 1099-A: Used to report a loss, such as a completed foreclosure or deed in lieu
     
  • Tax Form 1099-C: Used for properties sold in a short sale or on loans where any portion of the debt was forgiven. Examples of debt forgiveness include principal reduction modifications and incentive modification programs.
FHLBank Atlanta to host Webinars for AHP Competitive Program Applicants

FHLBank Atlanta's 2017 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) Competitive program will award up to $500,000 per project to the Bank's member financial institutions and their community housing partners for the acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, and development of affordable rental and ownership housing. Nonprofit and for profit developers, public entities, community builders, and others involved in affordable housing are encouraged to apply.

Applications for the 2017 AHP Competitive program will be available beginning January 3, 2017. The deadline for submitting applications is February 2, 2017.

AHFA Offices to Close for December/January Holidays


AHFA, ServiSolutions and Hardest Hit Alabama will be closed Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday.

We will also be closed Monday, January 2 in observance of the New Year's holiday
