Laurie Burgess is the owner of Webb & Company Realty. She has owned Webb & Company for approximately 10 years, has more than 26 years experience in the real estate business, and has been a Top Producer in her area for more than 20 years. She was introduced to AHFA programs through an area lender.

Q: What do you find most rewarding about your job?
A: The most rewarding part of my job is helping people. I love to solve problems, and these programs help me to deliver good news to folks.

Q: What do you think is the greatest benefit of AHFA programs?
A: The down payment assistance is great. The programs afford many people the American dream of owning a home. If these programs weren't in place, there would be so many people that would have to continue to rent.

Q: How long have you worked with AHFA programs?
A: I've worked with AHFA programs as long as I can remember, and I know the Step Up program has helped me sell more homes.
Montgomery Development Provides Security and Affordable Living in a Picturesque Location

Michael and Ellen Boware are thankful to call Kendrick's Way home. Michael says, "Before we came here, we lived in Birmingham and had some friends in Montgomery who'd been trying to get us to move here for years. We came and saw this place, and we were ready." Ellen said, "We immediately filled out an application, and we prayed and left it to the Lord. We were so happy when we got the call saying we got an apartment."

Reatha Simonton agrees. She moved to Kendrick's Way last year after living in another affordable housing development. "I never felt at home there. I feel at home here," she says.

The 72-unit elderly development was financed in part by $1,124,560 in AHFA-administered Housing Credits.
