Happy Homeownership Month!

Each year, during the month of June, the housing industry celebrates National Homeownership Month. This initiative was designed to highlight the benefits of owning and maintaining a home and to recognize the important role successful homeownership plays in building and sustaining viable communities. 

AHFA's multifamily staff presented the 2013 HOME Investment Partnerships/Housing Credit funding recommendations for the approval of the Board of Directors on June 4. By stretching scarce resources, AHFA was able to fund 18 developments this year.

Members of AHFA's multifamily staff attended the National Council of State Housing Agencies' 2013 Housing Credit Connect conference June 24-27. The event brings leaders and top development and compliance staff from the state Housing Credit allocating agencies together with government officials, developers, lenders, syndicators, investors, attorneys, accountants, property managers, compliance experts, owners, and nonprofits.

Auburn's Grace Ridge celebrated its grand opening on June 13. The 56-unit, garden-style complex is comprised of eight buildings with 40 two-bedroom and 16 three-bedroom homes featuring Energy Star appliances. The complex, developed by the Alabama Council on Human Relations, received $1.48 million in 2011 HOME funds and $971,043 in Housing Credits.
