AHFA Staffers Contribute Sweat Equity  
to Help Build Birmingham Habitat Home

Several AHFA employees participated in Habitat for Humanity of Greater Birmingham's 2013 Home Builders Blitz to assist with the construction of the Mitchell family home. 

 

AHFA was an event sponsor and will purchase the Mitchells' mortgage as part of our HFH Loan Purchase Program.

Sales Up from 2012

 

The Alabama Center for Real Estate reports that Alabama new home sales have experienced growth of 10.5 percent from April 2012. Year-to-date, new home sales are up 8.8%  percent. In April, 68 percent of metro areas experienced an increase in new home sales compared to 2012 with Montgomery leading the state with the highest growth rate of 19 percent followed by Tuscaloosa (15%) and Mobile (11%).

Florence Manager Wins AHFA Award

Mary Simpson, manager of Hickory Trace Apartments in Florence, has been named as AHFA's 2013 Manager of the Year.

 

The Manager of the Year award recognizes outstanding management staff at AHFA-funded multifamily housing developments. Nominees were evaluated on tenant relations, experience and education, the complex's curb appeal, and AHFA program compliance.


"This award is an opportunity for us to show our appreciation for the hard work of managers like Mary," said AHFA Executive Director Robert Strickland. "The AHFA board and staff are proud to honor such dedicated individuals."  


AHFA Represented At ALCARH Event


Members of AHFA's allocation and compliance staffs attended the Alabama Council for Affordable and Rural Housing's annual conference May 20-23. During the event, AHFA presented the Manager of the Year award, addressed attendees on program updates, and hosted a workshop session about compliance.
