AHFA Promotes Programs in D.C.
 

AHFA staff and board members met March 4-6 with members of Alabama's congressional delegation as part of the National Council of State Housing Agencies' Annual Legislative Conference to thank them for their support and highlight AHFA's accomplishments in each district and across the state.

AHFA Names 2012 Mortgage Processor of the Year

 

In a March 15 ceremony, AHFA honored Rachel Ellis of WR Starkey Mortgage in Montgomery as AHFA's Processor of the Year. Given annually since 1999, the Processor of the Year award has recognized consistent perfect loan submissions from AHFA's participating lenders. 

Step Up and Mortgage Credit Certificates Offer
Down Payment Assistance and Tax Savings


Combining AHFA's Step Up loan product with a Mortgage Credit Certificate helps lower-income home buyers afford even more home for the money. Step Up is designed for low- and moderate-income home buyers who need help with the down payment. MCCs help reduce borrower's federal tax liability which can increase available income needed to qualify for a mortgage.

Multifamily Division Accepts 
Funding Applications
 
The AHFA multifamily division accepted 37 requests for HOME Investment Partnerships and Housing Credit program funding during the March 19-21 application cycle. This year, AHFA will be allocating approximately $10.2 million in HOME funds and $7.7 million in Housing Credits. Multifamily staff members are currently reviewing and point-scoring applications and conducting site visits. Funding decisions are expected in June.
