A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dr. Michael J. Coury
(386) 492-5090 (Direct Line)

From my first days at Lopez back in 2012, I always knew that this was a very special place. Since that time, I have witnessed many events that have reinforced my first impressions. Yesterday was yet another special moment in the archives of Father Lopez Catholic High School. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to share the legacy of Father Lopez the man--and Father Lopez the school--with our students.

On September 8 some 451 years ago, Spanish explorers came ashore at the site that is now St. Augustine. The chaplain on that expedition was our school's namesake, Father Francisco López de Mendoza. Yesterday's Prayer at the Cross provided us with an opportunity to commemorate this special occasion.

Father Frank Cerio '77 returned to his alma mater to lead us in prayer and to offer a reflection on the life of Father Lopez. He also took the occasion to share some memories from his days as a Lopez student on our original campus. He acknowledged the great teacher he had for English, and he recalled his days as a Lopez swimmer and as a member of the nine-piece marching band that enlivened Green Wave sporting events.

Our Parent Club played a key role in making this day extra-special for our students. Club President Sonia Mori '78 and her helpers provided rosaries and a Miraculous Medal key chain for each student. They also treated the students to Schmancy Pops popsicles. (As an aside, Sonia related to me that her student locker at Lopez was right next to that of Father Cerio.)

Coincidentally, the Principals from our partner elementary schools were meeting on campus yesterday. They were able to join us for the service. It was nice to see many of their graduates--now Lopez students--seek them out before heading off to lunch.

As I reflect back on the activities from yesterday morning, I cannot help but take great pride in our very special school and the many members of our school family who help make our school special. That includes you!

Thank you for taking the time to read this message. I appreciate your interest, prayers and support for Father Lopez Catholic High School and for the students we are privileged to serve.

DID YOU RECEIVE YOUR ANNUAL REPORT?
undefined
The 2015-16 Annual Report was distributed via bulk mail earlier this week. Most of our readers should have received their copy of the magazine by now. Those residing in other states will likely receive their mailed copies in the next few days.

If you do not receive this publication, please feel free to stop by the school office to pick up a magazine. If it is more convenient for you to receive a copy in the mail, simply reply to this email with your name and mailing address. We will be happy to mail one to you. For those who would prefer an electronic copy, you may click here to view the report in PDF format.

(A special note of appreciation is extended to Heather Voges Welch '02, our Director of Development. She did an amazing job overseeing the production of this report in a timely manner. We also congratulate Heather and her husband, Ryan, on the birth last week of their second daughter, Blakely Laine.)
DO YOU KNOW
Do you know that 70 percent of our current students are receiving some form of tuition assistance or tuition discount to help their families provide for a Father Lopez education? Without this aid, many of these students would be unable to attend our Catholic high school.

Do you know that 100 percent of our current students have their tuition subsidized by the generosity of our donors and benefactors? Tuition revenue alone does not cover the higher cost of educating each student.

Do you know that you can make a difference in the lives of others with your tax-deductible gift to The Lopez Fund?

Do you know that you can make a gift online by clicking here?

Do you know that we need your help and greatly appreciate your prayers and support?
