LOPEZ IN THE NEWS
eNEWS is an electronic newsletter sent on a regular basis to families and  friends of Father Lopez Catholic High School in Daytona Beach, Florida.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dr. Michael J. Coury
mcoury@fatherlopez.org

Here is a "new math" question for you. When does 100 + 100 = 5,000? The answer to that question is ____________________. Actually, I do know the answer. However, I am going to let you think about it for awhile. The answer will be shared with you in the next edition of eNEWS, our electronic newsletter.

Speaking of eNEWS, I want to give a tip of the Green Wave hat to Cindy Brennan. She is the Human Resource Coordinator at Father Lopez. Among her many duties, Cindy also edits and prepares this award-winning newsletter.

Some of you may recall that this publication received special recognition from the Diocese of Orlando in 2014. During the Light of Faith Awards ceremony that year, Lopez received the "Best Practices" Award in the category of school newsletters. The panel of judges noted that the newsletter "has a good mix of photos and articles, is produced at minimal cost, honors students and faculty, and beautifully communicates the faithfulness of the community and its faith-based mission."

Last week, eNEWS received yet another award. The publication was recognized as a 2015 All Star Award Winner by Constant Contact. This firm has been a leader in email marketing since 1995, serving thousands of small businesses and nonprofit organizations. The award recognizes organizations that have "demonstrated exemplary engagement with their audience."

Criteria for this award include a number of technical aspects, such as the percentage of readers who actually open the newsletter. So in many ways, your receptiveness to receiving eNEWS played a major role in the selection process. Thus, we tip the Green Wave hat to you as well.

As always, please know that we appreciate your interest and support for Father Lopez Catholic High School and the students we serve.

They were both lifelong devout Catholics and strong believers in Catholic education.

MEMORIAL DAY ESSAY CONTEST
All high school students are eligible to enter this contest sponsored by Lohman Community Outreach. The purpose of the contest is to create an educational awareness among young people in our community so they may learn more about the price of freedom. There is a $500 cash prize for the top essay, as well as monetary awards for the top two runner-ups. More information is available here.
BOYS' WEIGHTLIFTING WINS DISTRICT, THREE TO STATE
