As many of you are aware by now, the transitional Council received significant news from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care last week, regarding our draft Registration Regulation.

Specifically, the ministry does not agree with our approach to the Registered Mental Health Therapist (RMHT) category of members, and has advised us that it cannot support inclusion of those practitioners (as we have defined the category) as future members of the college.  In the opinion of the ministry, those individuals are not practising psychotherapy and should not be regulated by this College.

We at the transitional Council are feeling a profound sense of concern for the enormous amount of work and effort expended by stakeholder groups and individuals who engaged with the Council and its committees in developing the draft regulation and the entry-to-practice Competency Profile for the RMHT category.  Linked here is our letter responding to the ministry's Nov 21 communique.
