Phase Two of ACCC Transmission Line Upgrade Completed in Siberia

In October 2014, with the support of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm Meridian LTD., ОАО Tyumenenergo (one of Russia's largest interregional distribution grid companies), completed the installation of 619 kcmil (313.8 square mm) Oslo size ACCC conductor to increase the capacity of an existing 110 kV transmission line near Tyumen City in the Tyumen Region of West Siberia. In January, 2015 the second phase of the Tyumenskaya-Ozhongino line was completed using 832 kcmil (421.4 square mm) Brussels size ACCC conductor, which had been stored outdoors for 20 months in temperatures ranging from -45C to +35C prior to its installation. Both ACCC conductors were manufactured and delivered by SimRoss-Lamifil. Installation support was provided by SimRoss engineer Zolotikov who had also supported the Cherepet to Orbita and Sputnik to Kaluzhskaya 220 kV ACCC line upgrades.

The completed project linked the Tyumen CHPP-2 power plant with the Shirotnaya and Agogino substations. Tyumen CHPP-2 is the largest and one of the most efficient power plants of the Territorial Generating Company #10 ("TGC-10") owned by the Finnish group Fortum. Fortum is the third largest foreign investor in the Russian power industry and one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of thermal and electric energy in the Urals and Western Siberia. The total installed capacity of branches, subsidiaries and affiliates of the company is 4,758,221 MW. The Fortum structure consists of nine power plants. Five in the Chelyabinsk region and four in the Tyumen region. Fortum is actively ensuring the energy security of the territories through the development of generation and the utilization of advanced energy-efficient technologies such as the ACCC conductor.

Why Over 100 International Utilities Have Selected ACCC

  • High Capacity
  • Low Sag
  • High Strength
  • Fatigue Resistant
  • Corrosion Resistant
  • Excellent Self Damping
  • Easy to Install
  • Great for Long Spans
  • Very Tough
  • Extensively Proven
  • Excellent for N-1 Conditions
  • Lower Line Losses

The ACCC Conductor's added aluminum content (without a weight or diameter penalty) allows it to run cooler under any load condition which translates into reduced line losses. Reduced line losses can save fuel, emissions and generation capacity.

The Bottom Line:

In more than 300 cases, the ACCC conductor has provided more than 100 utilities the best economic solution for their specific project needs.

CTC Global's entire staff was greatly appreciative of your time and interest. For those of you that were unable to attend, please feel free to visit anytime you happen to be in Southern California. We are a 24/7 operation and would be delighted to offer you a tour of our manufacturing facility, corporate offices, labs and QC operations at your convenience. We are located one mile east of the John Wayne "SNA" airport in Orange County. (About one hour south of LA and one hour north of San Diego) Our phone number is +1 (949) 428-8500

Free Design Software

CTC Global created CCP to help system planners and engineers compare the ampacity, line losses, thermal and ice load sag, and economic aspects of nearly any conductor type and size, so the numerous advantages of the ACCC conductor can be fully realized. The user simply selects the conductor types and sizes from drop down menus and enters the appropriate values & assumptions highlighted in the yellow boxes. The program is fully functional and uses standard industry formulas (such as IEEE 738-2006). Outputs are readily comparable to Sag10, PLS CADD™ and other similar programs.
