Do you whistle while you work?

Stats show that happiness and productivity are related. According to The New York Times , workers perform better when they are happily engaged in what they do. So it seems, happier people really do work harder. But how as leaders can we facilitate this? I'd suggest the following:
- Stay connected with your team, every Monday morning pick one person to spend 30 minutes with, try to discuss non-work related items.
- Encourage vacation days, they're vital to rejuvenation.
- Ensure the team is involved with the development of your company vision, people are happier when they can relate and understand where the company is heading.
- Communicate! Keeping your team in the dark will not increase employee engagement!
- Encourage your team to try new ways of working, it makes for great continuous improvement (one of my favourite things!)
