Greetings!
What does 'my door is always open' really mean? For me, it's one of my approaches to continual improvements in the office. I ensure my staff are comfortable at sharing their new ideas, thinking outside the box, and not just worried about covering their behind. But to give my staff the comfort they need to do this, I simply can't say 'my door is always open'. After all, actions speak louder than words. So how do I encourage real feedback from my staff? I check-in. I encourage it, constantly. I believe in it, always. I always ask. I truly listen to their input on how we can improve our ways of working.
The road to improved efficiency is almost always in front of you, you just have to look and have a proactive approach. Is your door open, really? You'll be amazed at what you can learn.
