Greetings!

What does 'my door is always open' really mean? For me, it's one of my approaches to continual improvements in the office. I ensure my staff are comfortable at sharing their new ideas, thinking outside the box, and not just worried about covering their behind. But to give my staff the comfort they need to do this, I simply can't say 'my door is always open'. After all, actions speak louder than words.  So how do I encourage real feedback from my staff?  I check-in.  I encourage it, constantly. I believe in it, always. I always ask. I truly listen to their input on how we can improve our ways of working.

The road to improved efficiency is almost always in front of you, you just have to look and have a proactive approach. Is your door open, really? You'll be amazed at what you can learn.

March Break Madness
Are you balancing kids off school while still working during March break? Forget the guilt and if you can, schedule in some quality time with them. Balancing work and personal life is always a journey. Try these quality items that wont break the bank:
  • Skating can be fun, go for a hot chocolate after.
  • Volunteer - Talk to your kids about the value of volunteering, find an organization in you area that needs a hand.
  • Enjoy a family movie night, curl up on the couch with popcorn.
  • Take in a maple syrup festival in your area. Always yummy.
