Preschool 3's "Bears" Class
Our Preschool Bears class is outfitted in their homemade astronaut helmets and jet packs during their Exploration of Outer Space!  The helmets are made from paint buckets and the jet packs are made from plastic bottles.  How creative!

Dear CES Families,

The Come Sail Away Auction and Gala was a huge success and loads of fun.  "Thank you!" to all of you who so generously gave of your time and talents to the event:  decorations, music, art work, auction items, marketing materials, letters, videos, and the list could go on.  Another huge "Thank you!" of course, goes to all who made such generous donations and purchases both before and during the event.  So far, the numbers are looking good and I am absolutely thrilled. We expect to exceed the total amount we raised last year, and we DID exceed, by 30%, the amount we raised during the Raise the Paddle event!

If you were unable to attend and would still like to participate, it is not too late!  You will see in today's Cardinal that there are a few remaining items that can be purchased. See directions below for how to make a bid.

In addition, if you would like to make a contribution to the Raise the Paddle project, you may do that, too.  This year the project is remodelling one of the classrooms in the lower school building.  Last year, the community came together in such a positive way to remodel the art room, and we want to continue this forward momentum.  It is our goal to establish a long-range plan for upgrading all of the academic spaces in the next several years.  So, please join us! The simplest way to donate to the remodelling is to write a check to Christ Episcopal School and write "Raise the Paddle" in the memo line.

Thank you for your love and support of CES!

With love and gratitude,

Caroline Chapin, Ed.D.

COMING SOON TO CES....MIDDLE SCHOOL 1:1 PROGRAM
WHAT IS IT?
Middle School students will be equipped with their own Chromebooks for classwork, homework, research, projects, etc. Chromebooks give teachers the ability to access and monitor students work at any time and give immediate feedback.  It also allows for 1 on 1 interaction with a teacher, another student or group of students in a learning and/or project environment.

HOW IS CES PREPARING FOR THIS NEW PROGRAM?
  1. Laying the technical hardware and software groundwork to support a successful program,
  2. Upgrading our network infrastructure
  3. Putting into place a dynamic device management system
  4. Keeping parents up to date on the program's progress; and
  5. Ensuring that teachers and students have proper training and support in the educational use of the Chromebooks

PURCHASING OF CHROMEBOOKS
CES has partnered with Daly Computers, an approved vendor of Chromebooks, particularly in a learning environment.  More information and FAQs will be coming later in the semester but some key points are below:

  • Parents must buy Chromebooks directly from our approved vendor, Daly Computers.
  • There will be 4 models in the $300-$400 price range to choose from.  It is our intention to have the choices ready for review in March.
  • There will be 4 models in the $300-$400 price range to choose from; Parents will select the model they want and payment will be made by credit card or check. Chromebooks will be shipped to your homes.
  • Purchases will likely take place June 1, 2016 to August 1, 2016.  If a family already has a Chromebook, we are speaking with Daly to see if they can be integrated into the CES learning environment with our device management software among other potential opportunities.
  • As part of the CES agreement with Daly, the purchase includes device management software for use within the CES network, comprehensive warranty coverage, technical support from the manufacturer and immediate replacement in case of hardware failure or damage.
  • CES faculty and IT staff assure proper training, instruction and support for students in the academic use of Chromebooks
  • All sales are final, no refunds or exchanges, but all defects and damage are covered through the warranty.

Fab Five at Sheridan

On Thursday, February 4th, our girls basketball team played Sheridan.  Playing with only 5 girls (due to the rescheduling), and judging by the size of the other team, CES went in unsure of the outcome.  But, with a monumental effort, this Fab Five overcame all odds and won 22-20!!
