TMJ Disorder and How to Make Your Dental Visit Less Stressful
Saturday, April 20th 1-4:00 PM
Come hear Dr. David Streiff, from Alder Dental Group, discuss TMJ Disorder, plus how to make your dental visit more comfortable and less stressful.
Temporomandibular joint disorder, TMJD (in the medical literature TMD), or TMJ syndrome, is an umbrella term covering acute or chronic pain, especially in the jaw muscles and/or inflammation of the temporomandibular joint (jaw joint).
Many people with fibromyalgia and chronic pain also suffer from jaw pain and recurring headaches, which can be a symptom of TMJD.
Meeting format:
- 1-2:15 PM - enjoy social time with fellow members
- 2:15-4 PM - announcements and guest speaker

Social Events in April
Walk in the Park
Saturday, April 27th 12-1PM
Let's welcome Spring and get back to our monthly walks. Come join us for a walk in George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego.
George Rogers Park is Lake Oswego's first community park and one of its most diverse. Situated on the Willamette River, the park is the site of significant Native American activity over 10,000 years ago, as well as the center of Lake Oswego's industrial iron history. The park is 26 acres and contains athletic fields, tennis courts, children's playground, picnicing, riverfront access, walking trails, and a large natural area. Of particular interest to history buffs is the "Iron Furnace", which is listed on the National Historic register and one of the few reminders of Lake Oswego's industrial past. One of the best views of the Willamette River can be found near the furnace in the lower park.

Social Get-Together: Gustav's Thursday, April 11th 1-3:00 PM
Come join us for some fun social time at Gustav's Restaurant in Tigard!
They have a gluten-free menu. You are welcome to order a cup of tea or a full meal. Their prices are quite reasonable, the service is wonderful and we gather in a large, private corner booth.
The restaurant is located at 10350 SW Greenburg Road, Tigard.

Lisa Stanley's "Walking Warriors"
Tuesdays, 12-1:00 PM
Lisa Stanley has started a walking group for our community. Please feel free to join her, Scooby and the other warriors any Tuesday at noon at the Hillsboro Library on Brookwood. There is a walking path around a couple of duck ponds.
They walk for no longer than an hour and there are benches along the asphalt walkways for rest breaks.
Lisa says, "If someone needs to sit...just mention needing a break and we all take that time to sit and talk and rest."
Several of the members have brought their dogs on the walks. Just be sure that they are leashed and that you clean up after them.
How to find Lisa and Scooby:
There is a little sitting area just off to the left of the library as you pull in. It is by the handicap parking spaces near the walkway. Lisa will always be there with Scooby. She says to look for a "quite happy white baby boy trying not to wag his tail into outer space."

March Recordings
Health Insurance, Medicare, & YOU! Our March meeting was all about health insurance.
Jennifer Allain discussed health insurance-- as it relates to you! She described how major medical insurance companies view fibromyalgia in underwriting, alternative options to major medical insurance, and how the new Health Insurance Exchange may affect you. She also gave a presentation on Medicare. Due to restrictions Medicare places on Ms. Allain, we were unable to videotape this meeting. We are working on meeting notes for those of you who were unable to attend.
Jennifer has also offered to meet with anyone who was unable to attend one-on-one. You can set up an appointment by calling Jennifer at (503) 307-4811 or sending her an email. Join our private web group here...
