PGWA Board Elects Officers for 2016

At its January meeting, the PGWA board of directors elected the following officers for 2016:
President: Rickey Trombetta-Stancliff (Trombetta Family Wines)
Vice President: Ana Keller (Keller Estate)
Treasurer: Kathleen Doyle
Secretary: Kathy O'Donnell

The PGWA board is comprised of all volunteers dedicated to advancing the mission of the PGWA, which is to:
- Promote the winegrowers and vintners within the Petaluma Gap and foster the production of high-quality wines crafted from Petaluma Gap fruit
- Cultivate positive relationships with the community by elevating awareness of growing and winemaking practices and an understanding of the winegrowers' commitment to respect and protect the land
- Continue to advance Petaluma's 150-year heritage as a successful wine-producing center

February PGWA Educational Event
 Curious about what makes Petaluma Gap wines so special? This tasting event is bound to satisfy your desire. Master the nuances of wines from our local vineyards by exposing your palate to representative Pinot Noirs from the Gap, and comparing them with Pinots from France's legendary Burgundy region.
Jason Jenkins, proprietor of Vine & Barrel Wine Bar, will host this inaugural seminar in our new series where we will present, taste and discuss Petaluma Gap wines, and compare them with similar varietals from other regions.
Which wines will dominate? We humbly submit that there is only one way to find out...

Trombetta Family Wines
Trombetta Family Wines  will be pouring at the Sonoma in the City event in Houston, TX on March 1st. Rickey Trombetta-Stancliff will be there and will also be pouring a selection of other wines from the soon to be Petaluma Gap AVA.
Trombetta's winemaker, Erica Stancliff, has been named winemaker for Furthermore Wines in Sebastopol. She will continue as winemaker for Trombetta Family Wines as well. Guarachi Family Wines Guarachi Family Wines was invited to participate in the 2016 Wine Spectator Grand Tour. This is the 4th year that Guarachi has been a part of this prestigious event. The 2013 Guarachi Family Wines Beckstoffer Las Piedras Heritage Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon received 96 points from Wine Advocate! This score was rated by Robert Parker and featured in the December 2015 issue.

Fogline Vineyards
Fogline Vineyards has released their 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir - Fogline Neighbors to the Tasting Room in Fulton, CA. This wine is a blend of the best barrels that include 7 different Pinot Noir clones off 3 Petaluma Gap Vineyards. Clones 115, Swan, Mt. Eden and Pommard are from Fogline's Estate Hillside vineyard. Clones 667 and 777 are from Sun Chase Vineyard and finally clone 114 from the Janian Vineyard. 30% whole cluster fermentation creates an earthy complex bouquet with a concentrated mouthfeel and clean finish. Bailiwick Wines
Bailiwick Wines' Pinot Noirs are in the spotlight! Just announced in January, three of our 2013 Pinot Noirs - the Sonoma Coast, the Foray from RRV, and the Silver Pines from Sonoma Mountain - took Gold Medals at the 2016 SF Chronicle Wine Competition. We're obviously pleased how this vintage turned out. If you're curious, come taste them at the SF Chronicle Wine Competition Public Tasting at Fort Mason on Sat., Feb 13. Another spotlight was turned on Bailiwick's 2012 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, named by Greg Walters' PinotReport as one of the Top 12 Pinot Values for 2015.
