Where could you find the largest consumption of wine per capita in the world? California's Napa Valley? The Petaluma Gap?France? Italy? Well, almost. The Vatican is the winner. According to the Wine Institute, more wine is drunk per person in the Vatican City than in any other country in the world. Not only is there the regular consumption of ceremonial Communion wine, the Vatican's residents are also more likely to be elderly, male, highly educated and eat in large groups - all factors that indicate a propensity for greater wine consumption!

The PGWA "Members Only" Holiday Party will be held at the Petaluma Woman's Club on Wednesday, December 9th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The Petaluma Woman's Club is located at 518 B Street, Petaluma. An eVite was sent out to all members in November with additional details regarding the event. This annual event is always popular, so don't forget to RSVP! Cheers!

Sojourn Cellars
Save the Date for Sojourn Cellars  January Wine Release: Tuesday, January 19th
The Sojourn Cellars 2016 Spring Release wine allocations will be available to purchase beginning January 19th by Sojourn mailing list members! This release features new Pinot noir and Chardonnay wines from the exceptional 2014 vintage, including our three outstanding Petaluma Gap Pinot noir wines from: Sangiacomo, Gap's Crown and Rodgers Creek Vineyards.  Pellet Estate's 2013 Chardonnay, Sunchase Vineyard (Petaluma Gap) recently received several 93 point ratings each from Wine Spectator, The Tasting Panel Magazine, and from the Wine Enthusiast (an Editor's Choice!) and will be featured in their December "Best of Year" issue. It was previously awarded 92 points each from Robert Parker and Antonio Galloni. The wine has been described as "Rich, powerful effort with intense peach, tropical fruit, citrus, smoky, toasty oak and a long, vibrant finish," and "Lush, rich and deep with juicy acidity and lovely structure; long, intense and elegant with silky texture; long and classic."
McEvoy Ranch
McEvoy Ranch is  opening their doors on Sunday, December 6th from 11 am - 3:30 pm for their annual Holiday Open House. Experience the beauty of the season on a self-guided orchard walk, and enjoy music, cider, freshly-milled Olio Nuovo, wine tastings, holiday shopping and more. Registration is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Wine club members enjoy up to four free registrations. Mala Closure Systems
Mala Closure Systems  has finally received their last piece of equipment to have full production of screw caps at their Scott Street facility in Petaluma. Their parent company in Germany is the 3rd largest manufacturer of screw caps worldwide! To celebrate their success and honor their membership in the Petaluma Gap, beginning in mid-February Mala is offering a 15% discount on all first orders of screw caps from members of the Petaluma Gap to be produced here in Petaluma on the base of any of their standard colors. In addition, they will waive tooling costs for custom designs. This is a saving ranging between $250 and $1,200, depending on the chosen design feature.
