Greetings Fellow Healer!

The Healer's Life! July 2014 - Your Vacation - Dr. Elisabeth Crim & Moonstone Center
|
I wrote this message while flying back from the SouthEast Coast of the USA, having spent 2 weeks traveling and settling deeper and deeper into a hazy, slow, humid Southern existence. It has been both exquisitely delicious and hot and sweaty! I am flying home to California sitting between my loving husband and beautiful stepdaughter who just explored a college or two for next Fall (my grown up stepson came back early from our family travels to find a summer job before returning to college). I am struck that spending 2 weeks of time away from my routine, busy professional life and general life responsibilities, steeped in family, not just immediate, but also extended, has truly refreshed me. We also had time at the beach, a different beach, a Southern, Gulf of Mexico beach. We ate Southern seafood, grilled, blackened, and fried, not California versions garnished with avocado and kale. We enjoyed family recipes from my husband's youth. We visited my husband's parents who love each of us deeply and well. His father loves with a delicious Martini or Manhattan and genuinely curious questions of his grandchildren's politics. His mother loves with a steady normalizing and forgiving grace for everything you can think of. It is good to spend deep, meaningful, longer amounts of time with your children and your parents and mix up the generations. It requires patience. It requires surviving moments of great discomfort and long bidden familiar roles. It evokes deeper and sweeter, surprising levels of love and laughter. It reminds you of where you came from and gives a glimpse of where you may be going. It can stir hope and tender kindnesses. (It can also stir some fear and apprehension!)
Healthy intergenerational relationships nudge and strengthen, and I think lengthen our Soul-Life. Time out of our normal routine awakens our senses with new rhythms and vibrations. And if you can be in a different climate and environment for a time, the very change of weather, temperature, and humidity can massage your spirit into breathing more deeply...or at least differently than you are used to.
Summer has another month or so left, depending on your location and when your kids or grandkids, or even you go back to school. Take a break from your routine. Take time with your spouse or partner or friends. Immerse yourself in a little time with the generation behind you and before you. Find a way to be out of your routine and in a new environment, even if just for a little while.
Alter your soul.
Stretch...Breathe...
Say a prayer of gratitude...
And Find and Enjoy a few of these lazy days of summer!
See you next month,
Elisabeth
and the Moonstone Center Team

Therapist-Centered Clinical Consultation
Experiencing challenges in building or maintaining your practice?
Feeling isolated from other therapists?
Struggling with certain patients who may have attachment or personality disorders?
Interested in integrating the Physical and Spiritual within your Psychotherapy Practice?
Aware of your own Counter-Transference with certain patients and needing a place for expert help in attending to it,
Desiring to utilizing your patient's transference and your own counter-transference for positive treatment outcomes?
If you answered Yes! to any of these, you may want to consider the Power of Consultation for support, clinical case exploration, transference/counter-transference issues, mind-body-spirit-relational psychotherapy and your own process and planning in your professional life journey!
I approach each professional with whom I consult from an inter-subjective approach, honoring both of our sets of knowledge, experience, and passion. I offer consultation within a context of safety and compassion toward self with a healthy dose of humor where possible! We are merely human beings who happen to be healers of other human beings on this journey called Life! I offer a space to safely explore what being a therapist, or other type of healing professional means to you and how to better assure you are going forward safely (emotionally, mentally, relationally, and yes spiritually and physically) for yourself and for those you are treating. I do this from a clinical perspective that is grounded in an inter-subjective and holistic psychodynamic approach to individuals and relationships. Give me a call...Let's have some fun together while we help you grow and heal and provide effective healing to others in your professional life journey!
I offer consultation via:
- Individual Consultation.
- Group Consultation.
- Form your Own Group with your own Trusted Colleagues
Contact me or call: 310.371.2800 if you want to schedule an individual session or if you want to form a group of your trusted colleagues for me to join as consultant. I am putting out a call to form a Therapist-Centered Consultation Group at this time.
