Greetings Fellow Healer!
| The Healer's Life! MIND-BODY-SPIRIT Jan 2014 - Dr. Elisabeth Crim & Moonstone Center |
I pray you are already finding yourself in the midst of a good 2014! Mine has already taken off quickly and I am acutely aware that it is taking some time for me to return to my professional sense of self since my very full Holiday break. To be honest, I am not sure I have fully returned as yet!
My holidays were full of wonderful time spent with extended family as we happily welcomed home our son from college and then traveled across the country to be with my husband's family. I later enjoyed a gentle but deeply fulfilling visit with my own mother of 78 years who visited Southern California for a week after Christmas.
As rich and delicious as my holidays were this year, they were also exhausting and highly other-focused. I noted as I went through them that I was very present and happy throughout, yet, even so, I was left with a deep fatigue from which I am still recovering.
Most individuals I have encountered in the first couple of weeks of January, whether friends, colleagues, or patients, have communicated experiencing a similar slow transition or return to the "normal" routine of their lives.
Yet, herein is a caution to each of us. This is not a return. Entering 2014 in January is stepping into a new month of a new year of a new season in our lives. There is an invitation to become present to ourselves and each other in this new day and hour, month and year.
Being Present in Mind, Body, Spirit and Relationships
How do we become present? We must honor that we are mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational beings. We have the opportunity to listen to our mind, body, and spirit in each situation we move in and through. And we have the opportunity to be present to those with whom we are engaging relationally.
This week, as I listened to my body, I had to acknowledge that I was experiencing some fatigue and pain that was reminiscent of my past chronic fatigue that was at one time quite debilitating. I responded to this awareness by pausing between each transition of my day to apply some of the tools of yoga that helped me find balance and renewed health in my past. I practiced the Ujjayi breath and Lion's Breath. I did Sun Salutations before I dressed and entered my professional day. I did Sun-Salutations between sessions (when I remembered!). I experienced a tremendous and profound shift in energy with each breath and yogic pose that allowed me to successfully move through my day.
At times, I am needing a renewal of mind, body, and spirit on the hour.
I am betting that you may need this too.
It is okay. I invite you...be present to yourself today. Discover what is happening for you in your mind, body, and spirit. Listen to what you need and desire in this moment. Explore what this moment has for you today, this week, and in January, 2014. Breath. Move. Ask your Higher Power for an assist today. You have never been here at this time and day in your life before!

Therapist-Centered Clinical Consultation
Experiencing challenges in building or maintaining your practice?
Feeling isolated from other therapists?
Struggling with certain patients who may have attachment or personality disorders?
Interested in integrating the Physical and Spiritual within your Psychotherapy Practice?
Aware of your own Counter-Transference with certain patients and needing a place for expert help in attending to it,
Desiring to utilizing your patient's transference and your own counter-transference for positive treatment outcomes?
If you answered Yes! to any of these, you may want to consider the Power of Consultation for support, clinical case exploration, transference/counter-transference issues, mind-body-spirit-relational psychotherapy and your own process and planning in your professional life journey!
I approach each professional with whom I consult from an inter-subjective approach, honoring both of our sets of knowledge, experience, and passion. I offer consultation within a context of safety and compassion toward self with a healthy dose of humor where possible! We are merely human beings who happen to be healers of other human beings on this journey called Life! I offer a space to safely explore what being a therapist, or other type of healing professional means to you and how to better assure you are going forward safely (emotionally, mentally, relationally, and yes spiritually and physically) for yourself and for those you are treating. I do this from a clinical perspective that is grounded in an inter-subjective and holistic psychodynamic approach to individuals and relationships. Give me a call...Let's have some fun together while we help you grow and heal and provide effective healing to others in your professional life journey!
I offer consultation via:
- Individual Consultation.
- Group Consultation.
- Form your Own Group with your own Trusted Colleagues
Contact me or call: 310.371.2800 if you want to schedule an individual session or if you want to form a group of your trusted colleagues for me to join as consultant. I am putting out a call to form a Therapist-Centered Consultation Group at this time.
