Student Executive Committee

Volunteer with SEC!

Dear Student Colleagues,

If you have ever wondered where the money for your student fee goes, this is for you. I am here to share with you that part of that fee funds the SEC, your student government. The following is an invitation for you too to be involved in serving the community in this way.

The SEC is currently working with small number of people. In this time of positive transition in the school and in the community at large, we are asking for volunteers to help until the next SEC election can be held.

We are currently in the process of rewriting the constitution. If you have any time, energy, or skills and would like to help out please contact Malachi Mattox, [email protected]).

Peggy Thompson's The Strong Women Series at United

The paintings of Rev. Peggy Thompson (aka Margaret Carroll), BCC, MDiv '88, are currently featured in the both the Spencer Library gallery and our new Intersection Gallery, downstairs in the Context Cafe. With a BFA and MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Peggy has studied collage, classical drawing, photography and performance art. She has taught courses at Columbia College in Chicago, as well as at international institutions in Australia.

She recently turned to figurative painting to give herself a challenge. The Strong Women Series, (2012 - ) is the fruit of this challenge, and as long as she paints, this project will grow. In her own words, "I could paint portraits of strong women forever because we are everywhere!"
