Michelle Turnau Appointed as Assistant Dean of Students and Staff
Congratulations to Michelle Turnau, who is now the Assistant Dean of Students and Staff! In her Assistant Dean of Students capacity, she will handle student issues and concerns, and likewise for staff in her Assistant Dean of Staff capacity. Michele is in this position in recognition of her natural leadership and experience in the seminary. All issues concerning faculty in any way should still be directed to Associate Dean Paul Capetz.

TR273 Curating as Theological Reflection

Course Description: In this class, students will be involved in study, reflection and participation in an arts program at the seminary. Together we will prepare for and implement a gallery show and related events. Students will have the opportunity to learn about an artist, meet the artist, and develop their own theological reflections on the artist's body of work and artistic practice.... (more)

TR 727 Knowing God: Christian and Muslim Perspectives

Course Description: This is a seminar course which will bring into dialogue two seminal thinkers, one Christian and the other Muslim - Karl Barth and Abu Hamid Muhhamad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali - on the subject of the knowledge of God. Though located in very different historical and religious contexts both thinkers devoted an enormous amount of intellectual and spiritual energy to thinking through what it means to know and obey God.... Update: Capstone Seminar
In addition to being offered this fall, the Capstone Seminar, taken in the senior year, will also be offered in Spring 2015. If you are new to United but intend to graduate in 2015, I recommend that you take the Capstone Seminar in the spring to give yourself additional time to adjust to the United curriculum.
Update: Justice and Peace Concentration and Leadership Toward Racial Justice Concentration
The Justice and Peace concentration and the Leadership Toward Racial Justice concentrations are being combined into the new Social Justice and Reconciliation concentration. The foundation course for this new concentration is Theories of Justice and Reconciliation. All courses taken under the Justice and Peace and the Leadership toward Racial Justice concentrations will count toward the new concentration. All students enrolled in in either of the previous concentrations will be automatically transferred into the Social Justice and Reconciliation concentration.
