Music in Celebration!
Christopher Dabbo has completed his first year with us as Music Director and Organist.
We are so proud of all that he has accomplished in one short year, stepping aboard December 3, 2013, into the busiest time for musical activities:
- Directing the choir in special holiday music
- Lining up a string ensemble for the 11 o'clock Christmas Eve service
- Taking responsibility of a music series program in the spring
As with any new change, Chris was able to adapt and hone his style like a true music professional! His dedication and passion for the music of our Church was best illustrated when Chris volunteered to get up to speed with the Ecumenical Service at St Patrick's Church this past November.
He attended meetings to organize the event, was instrumental in obtaining "trumpets" for Handel's Halleluiah Chorus (which all 7 town church choirs sang together), played the piano for one hymn, the organ for another selection as well as singing in the choir! So, yes, we are very proud and so happy that we have been "so blessed" to have Chris join our Congregation as Music Director and Organist!
Happy New Year, Lila Cahill Music Committee Chairperson

Can & Bottle Drive January 11th
CCB - Can & Bottle Drive
Saturday January 11, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM EST
Baby it's cold outside...and it's time for our January Can & Bottle Drive on Saturday, January 11th!!
Please support our causes so we can continue meeting our missions locally, nationally and world-wide through the UCC!
Scrips UpdateThe activity picked up for the holidays, especially for the Covenant to Care Christmas Gift Tree so thank you to all who participated last month. I know you hear this all the time, but the charitable giving by all these major retailers and restaurants is ZERO if we don't participate. It is literally FREE MONEY for our Church General Fund that supports all we do. All it takes is a little time and commitment to get into a regular flow. I update the Scrips blog often with deals and promotions, so visit our website (or RSS Feed) often!
Q: How Do I Know What's Happening and How Can I Help?
You can start here for all our Fundraising News & Events, but you will also notice that it's in multiple locations throughout our website. |
Raise the Roof! Buy a Bundle!!
Please, please give consideration to replenishing our Building fund by Buying a Bundle!! It may be too early for some, but if you are in line for a nice bonus, a sizable tax return or some unexpected windfall...please help us help ourselves.
This old church needs to be re-painted and there are always things that crop up like parking lot potholes that need to be addressed at some point. Through your support of our Beacon on the Hill, we will look to spiff her up and keep the building in shape for many years to come! Each bundle symbolically represents those used to shingle our roof and, based on the cost of the project, we estimate needing 150 Bundles valued at $200 each.
The goal is to replenish our Building Improvement Fund within 24 months (or sooner!), allowing us to address other pressing building & grounds improvements. Here is how it will work:
- Choose what Bundle Amount you wish to donate:
- Full Bundle = $200
- Half Bundle = $100
- Quarter Bundle = $50
- or Any amount that works for you!
- Make your check out to the Congregational Church of Burlington and please note your Pledge Envelope # (if applicable) and "Raise the Roof" on the memo line.
- Give a little now and a little later...or a lot! Whatever works for you as any amount helps us keep this Beacon on the Hill in tip-top shape!
That's pretty much all you need to do at any time in the upcoming days and months. We are working on visuals so we can see how we are doing! |
