Upcoming Testing
Physical Fitness Testing - 9th Graders
Attention 9th graders! All 9th grade students will be doing Physical Fitness Testing on Tuesday, March 31. We are excited for this day of exercise and discussion of physical wellness! Students should not feel like they need to prepare for this day. Some things that students should know include:
- Exercises include: sit ups, push ups, basic stretching, and a shuttle run
- We will be asking for weight and height. Please be prepared to share this information (we will ask for this information privately).
- Students should dress in athletic/loose fitting clothing and wear comfortable shoes.
Get excited!! If you have any questions, please contact Ms Goddard (kgoddard@summitps.org)
CAHSEE - 10th Graders
All 10th grade students will take the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings March 17-18. The un-timed test has two parts: English Language Arts (Tuesday) and Mathematics (Wednesday). Students must pass the test in order to graduate; if they don't pass as 10th graders, they will be offered more opportunities to pass in 11th and 12th grades.
Summit Rainier students are well-prepared to succeed on the CAHSEE exam! Their classes have been preparing them since they entered as freshmen. In February, all 10th grade students had the opportunity to take practice tests and students have been getting additional help in their Summit Reads and Summit Solves courses. You can encourage your students to keep studying and practicing by going to this website to access resources:
Another way you can help your student succeed is by making sure they get a full night's rest before the exam and eat a full breakfast that morning.
AP Testing - 11th and 12th Graders
Sign ups will be taken in class on Friday. Parents can expect to get details from their students. AP Testing will take place May 4 - May 15, date depends on test.

Global Glimpse - Fundraising Campaign - Please help
Ms. Goddard
This summer, 14 Rainier students will be traveling with Global Glimpse to Nicaragua on a leadership development trip. Few young people are given the opportunity to travel internationally, and even fewer to travel in a way that challenges their perspectives on the world and empowers them to be become globally competent leaders. This summer with be their chance to learn more about the world and what making change and leading will look like in their lifetime. These students have worked incredibly hard to be accepted to this program, and they are working even harder to raise funds, learn about Nicaragua, and begin conversations around global issues. Please help support these students in their fundraising efforts. Our goal is to raise $5000 to divide among the students based on need, and to make their dream of traveling and learning together a reality! Donate on their GoFundMe page.
