Message from the Executive Director
Dear Friends and Families of Rainier,
Since its founding, Rainier has offered a high-quality education to a diverse student body. We have always been committed to providing this education to all of our students on the state and federal funding we receive. With that money, we fund our core experience, which provides: - A personalized academic foundation focused on preparing all students for success in college
- A safe and caring environment with small class sizes and mentor groups
- Professional development for teachers recruited from the best programs in the country
In addition to our state funding, we also ask all of our parents to contribute to support the unique experiences at Rainier that go above and beyond our academic model. Over the years, our loyal supporters have generously contributed to help provide: - Every student with the opportunity to participate in all extra-curricular programs offered, including athletics and trips, regardless of their family's financial circumstance
- Resources and books for our classrooms
Every teacher and faculty member does their part to deliver an incomparable high school public education for our local community - but we need your help. Rainier's 2014-2015 Annual Giving Campaign will allow us to continue to meet our mission at such a high level.
We owe the entirety of our success to the loyalty of the Rainier community. Thank you! This year, our goal is to raise $75,000 to cover those student programs that, while not part of our operating budget, are core to the Rainier experience. A gift of $400 from each family will more than get us to our goal. Every gift, whether modest or monumental, is appreciated.
May we count on your financial help? If so, you can donate cash or check to the office. You can also make a contribution through your online lunch payment account. Finally, with the end of the year coming soon, don't forget to check and see if your employer matches donations or if donating can help your tax situation!
Gratefully,
Jesse Roe Executive Director

College Corner
We are so proud of our seniors who have started to receive acceptances to 4 year colleges and universities. One major component of attending college is financing the cost. We will be holding a workshop about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) especially for 12th graders and their families on Tuesday, January 6, 6:30pm on the Tahoma Campus - this is the day school resumes after the holidays, so put it on your calendar now and plan to attend. This is a CRITICAL night for getting free college aid.
The same evening we will be holding an introduction to College testing for 11th graders and their families. |
Parent Education Night & Teaching and Learning Tour
Mr. Roe and Mr. Bock
Parents - there are two opportunities to come to school to learn more about your student's experience here at Summit: Rainier. We will be holding a Parent Education Night on Tuesday, December 16, 6:30pm as well as a Teaching and Learning Tour on Thursday, December 18 at 9am. Learn about the PLP tool and how you can check on your student's progress, and what they are learning in each of their academic classes. There will be time for Q&A with our Directors. We encourage you to attend if you have any questions. |
