Message from the Directors
Dear Rainier Families,
We hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving break and got to recharge and connect with family like we did. We are rested and ready to tackle the remaining three weeks of the fall semester. These will be really important weeks for students to focus, work hard, and make sure they are caught up in all of their classes by the last day of the semester, December 19th. You can support your student's academic success in these coming weeks by helping him/her get to office hours in the morning or after school and by checking the PLP tool for updated project grades and assessments passed.
This past week, our seniors reached the milestone of completing their CSU and UC college applications. While many of them will continue to work on private school applications over the next two months, we are so proud of their progress and hard work so far. As we turn our attention to private schools and preparing next year's class to go through the application process, we want to invite you to a very special event called the College Case Study night, this Thursday at 6pm at Rainier. At this event, Regional Admissions Counselors of California will lead parents and students through a mock admission committee using four "case studies" of student applications. The exercise will help participants better understand the application process and what is valued in an application. The evening will conclude with a mini-college fair with representatives from about a dozen private and out of state schools. Anyone is welcome to attend, but this event is especially important for 12th graders applying to private schools and 11th grade students and parents. If you're planning to attend, you can go here for a little pre-reading about the "cases" that will be presented.
Our PSCG meeting will be on Wednesday night at 6:30pm on the Rainier campus. We will be discussing upcoming events such as the Winter Formal as well as fundraising and outreach strategies. We hope to see you there.
On Saturday, please come out and cheer for our Boys Basketball team as they compete in the Justin Semana Memorial Basketball Tournament. Details are below.
Parents who have not yet signed up for an online account can do so during our December enrollment period. It is an easy way to keep track of and make payments to the school. Please click on the link to sign up. http://bit.ly/spsparentsignup
Any 9th- 11th grade families who have not yet turned in your Prop 39 Intent to Re-Enroll forms for next year, please do so as soon as possible. We are still missing a few forms. This helps us leverage facilities for the school.
Sincerely,
Jesse Roe, Executive Director

Rainier College Case Studies Night
Thursday, December 4, 6pm
Rainier will be hosting this wonderful opportunity, giving families, especially for 11th and 10th grade families, a chance to learn more about the college application process.
The Case Study college night is an engaging and effective way to begin the college application process. College representatives will lead parents and students through a mock admission committee using four sample student applications. The exercise will point out the intricacies of the process and the importance of assembling a strong application. Students and parents will gain insight and understanding as to what is valued in a college application. |

Fundraising
Donations
We would like to thank the families who have already donated money to the school this year as well as the generous families who have donated in past years. Rainier collects donations to cover three major parts of our program. Donations help to cover our sports and clubs program, our books and supplies for classrooms, and our scholarship program which helps cover costs for students who can't afford all of the opportunities that we have for students.
We ask that all families make a donation and we hope to reach 100% participation this year. Our suggested donation per family is $400; however, we welcome any and all amounts. Cash and check donations can be brought to the office and left with Ms. Trujillo or submitted through your online account.
