Message from the Directors

Dear Rainier Families,

Because of the delays in our campus renovation project, we have worked with the East Side Union Board to have them put this issue on the agenda for their public meeting this Thursday, September 18 at 6pm. If you wish to speak to support progress on this project, please arrive before the meeting to put in a request to speak. The Board has been given the timeline below and will be available to hear comments from the Rainier community.

Since the Board made that commitment, the four portables (where the restroom and shade structure will go) have been demolished and the ground underneath has been prepared for paving. Additionally, we have been promised the following dates:
  • Campus fencing will start Tuesday 9/16, to be completed by Friday 9/19
  • The restroom portable will be on campus, hooked up, tested, and ready for use by Tuesday 9/30
  • The shade structure and science sinks will be installed by the end of September
  • All portables will be painted by October 17 at the latest
We are very excited about the beautification of our campus and look forward to celebrating with our students and families.

September 15, 2014
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,

Jesse Roe, Executive Director

Request for Empty 2 liter Soda Bottles

Ms. Shemyakina

AP Environmental Studies Teacher

Our second APES project has to do with building ecosystems within plastic bottles. We need as many 2 liter soda bottles as we can get. We need 130 and only have a handful so far.

Here is an image of the PERFECT soda bottle:

Some details:

  • Clear plastic (green does not work)
  • "Flat" sides (the curvy new Coke bottles do not work as well)
  • Gently rinsed out with water please! (dried soda is hard to clean out)
  • With caps if possible (but not required)
Goodwill Collection Event

Help advertise on your Facebook page, just cut and paste the section below to help raise funds for our Summit schools.

Saturday, September 27, 10am - 4pm

The Goodwill Trailer will be in the Tahoma turn-around (14271 Story Road) to accept E-waste, clothing, shoes, toys, household appliances and housewares - pretty much everything except large furniture.

The more we collect, the more money we raise for Rainier and Tahoma - we made almost $1500 last time by filling up the trailer! Please help us reach our goal of filling up another trailer!
