Message from the Executive Director

Dear Summit Rainier Families,

It has been exciting to watch our students work together this week during their Orientation project to design learning environments that inspire them to reach their goals, and reflect Summit's community identity and values. We have been impressed by the collaboration, creativity and innovation of our students this week!

We will choose the designs that inspire us as a community, and bring them to life at our school. To do that, we have allocated some funds to support our students' work.

We have also heard requests from our students for additional funds to implement their school designs. With the help of our parent organization, Summit Public Schools, we have great news....  We can!

We received a special donation, from an individual who is dedicated to providing a Summit education to as many students as possible, specifically to honor the work of our students.

However, it wouldn't be Summit Rainier without a challenge from us - and some fun!

The start of the school year also marks the launch of our 2014-15 family recruitment season! This is a time when students and families begin to explore whether their current school is the right fit for them, as well as explore school options for the next school year. While they are making this important decision, we want to ensure that that all families know that Rainier is a quality option for them.

We also have a few remaining spots available now for families who are searching for a better fit school immediately. We believe so deeply in our school that we want to do everything we can to ensure that every student who is interested in Summit is able to join our community. Every student deserves a Summit education and should be guaranteed the opportunity to go to, and succeed in, college!

When we asked our new families how they heard about us, they overwhelmingly told us that they heard about Summit from a trusted friend, family member or colleague. That is you and your student!

You are our greatest ambassadors. Together, you have helped to build this community, and we would love for you to continue to help strengthen it by reaching out to friends and family about Summit.

And so, today, we presented an exciting opportunity to our students, and we encourage you to join in the Summit Friends & Family Challenge, and the fun!

  • For every new student who joins our community, we will provide dessert that day and your teachers/school leaders will dress up in a costume of their choice. We will celebrate a growing community together!

  • Every grade level that brings at least 12 new students to the Summit community will get an In-n-Out Truck for a celebration after school.

  • For every 10 new students who join our community - we will provide $10,000 to fund the implementation of your designs from your orientation projects, based on your votes!

  • Even better -  for every 10 new students we bring into the our community by Sept 3rd, we will provide $20,000 to fund the implementation of your designs.

  • Finally, if we bring in 30 new students to our community, Summit will pay all study trip expenses for every student this year!

If you know someone who might be interested in joining our community, please have them reach out to the Rainier office at (408) 831-3104.

Sincerely,

Mr. Roe, Executive Director
