Message from the Directors
Dear Bulldog Families,
We are in our home stretch of the school year and students are finishing up their final projects of the year. Today, 9th and 11th graders are presenting their final humanities projects and 10th graders are getting ready for their last timed writing assignment. There has been a consistent buzz of productivity over the last few weeks and that is culminating with a final week of hard work, celebration, and looking forward.
We want to remind every family about our end of the year award ceremony and celebration on Friday, June 6 from 11am - 1pm in the Mt. Pleasant auditorium. During this celebration, teachers will be giving awards to students and we will be hearing speeches from a select group of 9th graders. All are welcome. School officially ends at 2pm on Friday June 6 but students can stay on campus to finish up any last minute work or take part in activities. We also want to thank everyone who came to last week's State of the School address and Celebration of Learning. We had over 50 people who were excited to reflect on the growth we've made this year and look forward to an amazing 2014-2015 school year. The theme of the address was "Why Rainier?" and revolved around two of the main reasons why you all chose Rainier as the school to help in educating your child. These two main reasons are that we are a small supportive community and that we are dedicated to getting every student ready for success in college. To reach these goals, we are dedicated to continuously growing and becoming a better school and community every day, month, and year. If you are interested in looking at some of the plans for next year, you can look over the powerpoint from the talk. The students have been very focused and are planning to finish strong! Please see below for more important information.
Sincerely,
Jesse Roe, Executive Director
Kevin Bock, Assistant Director
Summit Public Schools: Rainier
Campus Hours during the Summer The Rainier office will be open from 8am - 4pm every day the week of June 9. After that we will be relocating to Tahoma for the summer while there is construction happening on our campus. If you need any documents for enrollment, to pay a balance, or to get any other information, stop by Rainier next week and Tahoma after that. Both schools will be completely closed from June 30 through July 4. Summer of Summit
- Week 1: June 24 - June 27
- Week 2: July 8 - July 11
- Week 3: July 15 - July 18
- Week 4: July 22 - July 25
- Week 5: July 29 - August 1
For students who want to take assessments over the summer, to either finish a course or to get a head start on a course for next year, we will be hosting open office hours Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons from 1 - 5 pm at the Tahoma campus. These sessions are just for taking assessments and getting tutoring from peers. Students who need to bring their project average up to a 70% can turn in projects and revisions over the summer as well. These projects will be graded by teachers taking part in Summer of Summit. For any project that has been turned in, students have feedback from teachers that tell them how to bring their grade up. This work can be done at home or in the office hours mentioned above.
Lunch Payments All lunch balances need to be paid by Thursday, June 5 in order to receive a report card. Payments can be dropped off in the office. Parent Survey If you have not completed the parent survey, please take a few minutes and do it now. We want to hear from all our parents about what we're doing well and what areas you suggest for improvement. PIVOT Meeting/ Volunteer Appreciation This Thursday's PIVOT meeting will start with a special volunteer appreciation party at 6:30pm in Summit West. If you are one of the many parents who have logged your 40 volunteer hours for this school year, we hope you can join us for refreshments, fun, and a thank you gift for all of your hard work. If you have completed hours but didn't log them, please go to the Volunteer Time Log on the PIVOT site to do so and join us on Thursday. After the party, we will begin the PIVOT meeting where we will be planning for summer events and giving an update on the dress code policy for next year.

S ummit San Jose's first ever Junior Prom was a huge success! The students dressed to impress and had so much fun dancing the night away in the fancy Villages Clubhouse. A few pictures can be found online here, courtesy of Mr. O'Brien. Special thanks to Tahoma teacher Ms. Toyama and Student Council for all of their hard work as well as to Marcos Ortiz for getting us the venue.

Soccer Interest List
Ms. Goddard
Are you interested in playing soccer next winter at Rainier? We are looking to have both a boys and girls team if there are enough players. Please show your interest by signing up on this document. We also need parent help for the team!

PIVOT
As this school year heads toward the end, we need to start planning for next year. We need parents to step up and take on leadership roles for the school. Please sign up or re-commit on this list:
We ask that each family contribute 40 hours towards the school each year. You can help fulfill this by signing up for one of the jobs listed. If you are not able to commit to a job now, please consider driving on the fall Camping Trip or spring Study Trips which depend on parent drivers.
