Dear Rainier Families,
I am writing to inform you of some leadership transitions at Rainier. I wanted to let you know the leadership plan for the rest of this year, our plans for next year, and what my role will be for the rest of the year.
As you may already know, Ms. Lamcke and Ms. Pinelli are both on maternity leave. After time at home with her new baby boy, Ms. Lamcke has decided to pursue another job within the organization and not return as the Rainier principal. Ms. Pinelli has also decided to not return in her role as Assistant Director. Ms. Pinelli will be on maternity leave until the end of June and then will start a job as one of our Expeditions teachers.
Both Ms. Lamcke and Ms. Pinelli were instrumental in building the Summit San Jose schools over the last couple of years. I am deeply grateful for their commitment and service to our community. We are excited that we are not losing them to the Summit family but disappointed they will not be part of the Rainier community in the same way. They will, however, still be around. Ms. Lamcke will most likely be working in a teacher coaching role across the organization, which means she will still be engaging with our Rainier teachers on a regular basis. Ms. Pinelli will be teaching our Rainier students in Expeditions 8 weeks out of the year. I hope you will say thank you and congratulations to them as you see them in the future in their different roles. We have been planning for their leaves all year, and thus had a clear transition plan in place.
We were super lucky to find leaders of the caliber of Dr. Martin and Ms. Zingales. We will continue the current leadership structure of Dr. Martin and Ms. Zingales who bring over 30 years of combined experience in education. I will continue in my role as the Executive Director.
Many of you have shared your support of the work they have done over the last several weeks. I am confident under their leadership, that we will see the same positive progress and more. I am confident that Dr. Martin and Ms. Zingales will be here until the end of the school year, but we are not certain they will be moving into long term leadership roles at Rainier. We will have an aggressive search for a strong long term leadership team for Rainier.
We have already begun this search. We have posted internally and externally, and already have several qualified applicants. I know that as with Tahoma, we will find a strong leadership team that embodies our Summit values of holding high expectations, putting students first, and creating a school that realizes our mission of preparing every student for success in college and life.
I have spent a great deal of my time at Rainier over the last several weeks, and I have been proud of the work of the students, faculty and parents to transform the school. We have had parent work days, school meetings to discuss our core values, a reset of all of our Google Chromebooks, new canopies and picnic tables, student competitions around projects and assessments, a focus on electives and student success during Expeditions, 2 of our 3 grades go on successful overnight study trips. I have no doubt that Rainier will continue to accomplish many academic achievements and continue to cultivate a strong school culture.
Finally, I know that change is hard. But I wanted to remind everyone that the above was accomplished in approximately 6 weeks. There is so much more to come for Rainier, and I am excited to see it all unfold in the coming weeks as we close the school year strong. I am confident that together as a community, we will continue to accomplish extraordinary things for our students.

Le escribo para informarle de algunas transiciones de liderazgo en Rainier. Quería hacerle saber el plan de liderazgo para el resto de este año, los planes para el año que viene, y lo que mi posición será para el resto del año.

Ya hemos comenzado con esta búsqueda. Hemos publicado interna como externamente, y tenemos varios candidatos calificados. Sé que en Tahoma, nos encontraremos con un fuerte equipo de liderazgo que encarna nuestros valores de Summit de la celebración de grandes expectativas, estudiantes en primer lugar, y la creación de una escuela que da cuenta de nuestra misión de preparar a todos los estudiantes para el éxito en la universidad y en la vida.
He pasado gran parte de mi tiempo en Rainier durante las últimas semanas, y he estado orgulloso del trabajo de los estudiantes, profesores y padres de familia para transformar la escuela. Hemos tenido días de trabajo para padres, reuniones de la escuela para discutir nuestros valores fundamentales, un restablecimiento de todo nuestro Google Chromebooks, nuevos toldos y mesas de picnic, concursos para estudiantes de proyectos y evaluaciones, un enfoque en asignaturas optativas y éxito de los estudiantes durante las expediciones, 2 de los 3 grados fueron en sus viajes de estudio que tendieron éxito. No tengo ninguna duda de que Rainier seguirá para llevar a cabo muchos logros académicos y de seguir cultivando una fuerte cultura escolar.
Por último, sé que el cambio es difícil. Pero yo quería recordar a todos que lo anterior se llevó a cabo en aproximadamente 6 semanas. Hay mucho más por venir para Rainier, y estoy emocionado de ver que todo se desarrolle en las próximas semanas a medida que cerramos el año escolar fuerte. Estoy seguro de que juntos como comunidad, vamos a seguir para lograr cosas extraordinarias para nuestros estudiantes.
