Rainier Spring Expeditions:

Building Brighter, Bolder Bulldogs

Dear Rainier Community,

We are writing to provide an update on our Expeditions program. The Rainier and Summit Expeditions faculty have creatively merged a program that will enable all students to take their Expedition elective classes while also focusing on learning the necessary academic skills expected for all of our college bound students. Expeditions and Rainier teachers and Summit Academics have teamed up to provide enriched workshops on academic skills and projects, content support, and 1:1 mentoring. There will be guidance from Summit and Rainier faculty in the afternoons that will personalize your child's academic program and that will help set them up for success. The Expeditions classes will continue in the mornings, and will include the same rigor and expectations from previous classes.

In addition, we will be using this time to continue our focus around our core characteristics. We will provide various grade level and mentor group activities that will encourage, and celebrate successes in our school community. We will be building positive competitions around project turn in rates, content assessments passed, and engaging activities with friends and faculty.

We have had some great momentum with students and want to keep building on this success. We believe this is a unique opportunity and an important moment for our community to come together around our mission of college, character, and community. We strongly believe that after this Expeditions program, students and teachers will feel more successful and we can build off of this success for a strong finish to the year.

Expeditions starts next Monday, March 17. The first few days will be the regular Expeditions program, and then starting March 20, we will officially launch our Student Success Program. We will be hosting a parent night at Rainier on Monday, March 17 at 6:30pm as an open forum to answer any questions and to ask for your help in supporting your student's academic success. We hope you will attend.

We look forward to celebrating this success with you!

Sincerely,

David Richards, Executive Director
