Message from the Directors

Dear Rainier Families,

We regret to announce that Ana Martinez will not be returning as our Office Manager this semester. We thank her for all her hard work and wish her the best of luck in the future! We are currently in the process of interviewing for a new Office Manager and hope to have the position filled by mid-January. In the meantime, we are thankful for our parent volunteers who are helping to keep the office running. If you are available to help out in the office over the next few weeks, please email Ms. Lamcke with your availability.

Progress reports will be coming home in the January mailer early next week. Please remember that this year we moved to a year-long grading system, so grades are not final until June. The grades you see next week are an indication of your student's progress so far this year, but there is still plenty of time to improve those grades! As a reminder, you can always check on your student's progress by visiting the PLP tool and clicking on the projected grades tab.

If your student is behind, it is important that he/she work to catch up as quickly as possible. Please keep in mind the upcoming opportunities to get caught up:
  • Students should be working at least 2 hours outside of school every day. This time should be spent on playlists and studying for content assessments.
  • Students can attend Before School PLT every morning from 7:45-8:45am and After School PLT on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5pm for extra help.
  • Expeditions is a great time to get caught up! Students should plan to attend PLT before and after school during Expeditions and work at home while they have a short break from their academic classes.

As always, if you have any questions about your student's progress, please contact his/her mentor.

Respectfully,

Pamela Lamcke, Principal

Lia Pinelli, Assistant Director

In Our Summit Community
Ms Hannon, Tahoma Principal

During Winter Break, one of Tahoma's 10th grade students, Daniel Gonzalez, and his family had a fire in their house. Fortunately, everyone escaped safely, but the fire destroyed nearly all of their belongings. The family is now staying with friends until their house can be repaired, so they are not ready to accept donations of clothing or household items at this time. If you would like to give the Gonzalez family gift cards or monetary gifts, you can bring it to the Rainier or Tahoma office and Ms. Hannon will make sure that they receive it.

Thank you for being such a supportive community. If you have specific questions about donations, please email Ms. Hannon.
Pamela Lamcke, Principal
ACT Registration
We recommend that all 11th Graders take the ACT test on February 8; registration needs to be complete by January 10. Register for the ACT.

To register for the exams, students need either a credit card to pay for the exam, or a fee waiver. Students can qualify for a fee waiver if they meet specific criteria, including receiving free or reduced lunch here at Rainier. Students who need a fee waiver must request the fee waiver from Ms. Lamcke prior to registering for the exam.  Students can receive up to two SAT fee waivers and two ACT fee waivers total over the course of both 11th and 12th grades.

Please use Rainier's school code (054621) when registering to ensure that our school gets a copy of the results.
