Dear 11th Grade Students and Families,
One final reminder that the registration deadline for the January 25 SAT test is Friday, December 27. Please see the next section for more details on registering for both the SAT and the ACT.
If you were not able to access your PSAT scores, please email your mentor for the access code. The printed reports will go out in the January school mailing.
Math teacher, Mr. Lee, will be at school next week offering individual support and review. All of the students need to have a really strong understanding of Algebra 2 (material that they should have covered last year) before going on to the concepts that they will learn this semester in their Pre-Calculus class. Next week, Monday 12/30. Tuesday 12/31, Thursday 1/2 and Friday 1/3) Mr. Lee will be at school from 8:30 to noon. From 8:30 to 10am, the focus will be on review of Algebra 2 material, from 10am - noon the focus will be on both Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus playlists and projects. Students should bring questions and prepare to get some work completed. Please email Mr. Lee if there are any concerns.
The teachers have put together a checklist of playlists and projects that should have been completed before winter break. This is a great checklist; however, by logging in to the PLP app with your student (log in with their school email and password) you can also see whether a student has submitted the work, whether it has been graded or if it needs revision, as well as full list of playlists passed (green) or not yet passed (red).
For each class you can see whether students are "On Track" (road icon) or "Need Work" (wrench icon). We are very concerned about students who are not on track in one or more classes. Any student who receives an Incomplete at the end of the year may not even be eligible to apply for college next year. Progress reports will be going out in the January school mailing.

SAT and ACT Registration
It is time to register for the SAT and ACT tests! These tests are required as part of the application process to a four-year university. We strongly recommend that students take these exams in January and February.
The SAT test date is January 25 - registration needs to be complete by December 27. Register for the SAT. The ACT test date is February 8 - registration needs to be complete by January 10. Register for the ACT. To register for the exams, students need either a credit card to pay for the exam or a fee waiver. Students can qualify for a fee waiver if they meet specific criteria, including receiving free or reduced lunch at Rainier. Students who need a fee waiver must request it from Ms. Lamcke prior to registering for the exam. Students can receive up to two SAT fee waivers and two ACT fee waivers total over the course of the 11th and 12th grades. *When registering please use Rainier's school code (054621) to ensure that our school gets a copy of the results. |
