Message from the Directors
Dear Rainier Families,
We are just seven weeks away from the end of first semester! Time is flying by, and it's important that students are maximizing their time and taking full advantage of our support structures as we near the end of the semester. Here are some suggestions for what families can do to support students in these last weeks of the semester:
- Check the PLP tool at least two times each week. Review your student's progress together and discuss what he/she needs to do next to continue making progress. PLP Tool Resources are explained here.
- Make sure your student is attending before and after school PLT. Teachers are available daily from 7:45-8:45am and Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5pm. Please make sure your student is taking full advantage of this opportunity for individual help from his/her teachers.
- Make sure your student is spending a minimum of 2 hours each night doing work outside of the school day. Although homework varies by grade, all students need to spend time working on playlists, studying for content assessments, and finishing projects. Without spending additional time at home, it is unlikely that your student will be on track to pass his/her courses at the end of the school year.
- Reach out to your student's mentor if you have questions. We are here to help you! Please let us know what questions you have and what support you need.
Let's work together to have a successful end of the first semester.
Respectfully,
Pamela Lamcke, Principal
Lia Pinelli, Assistant Director

Reminders for the Week
Intent to Enroll Forms
We are still collecting Intent to Enroll forms. If you have not returned this form, return it to the front office as soon as possible because they are an important bargaining chip with the district to improve the Rainier campus, including bringing running water on campus for sinks, drinking fountains, science labs and more/closer bathrooms.
Parent Account Forms due November 1
We are accepting enrollment requests for online parent accounts until November 1! If you haven't heard, our management team recently introduced a new, convenient way for you to pay for your student's lunches, camping and class trips, as well as to make any donations.
Collecting these funds with cash and checks has been a thorn in the side of charter schools for years. Money gets lost, and reconciling and depositing thousands of dollars also takes up hours of our time and significant resources.
Summit has worked hard over this past year to develop a new, convenient, and easy to use online system where you can make payments directly to Summit by credit card.
Please note that this is an optional program. Families can continue paying by cash or check if so desired. But getting as many families to sign up for this program as possible opens up more time for our staff to spend on tasks that will benefit students!
To enroll, please fill out and return the form by November 1.

NEW You can also enroll online by using the online enrollment form.

Traffic Safety
Reminder for Rainier drivers: do not double park on Marten during morning drop off or afternoon pick up. Double parking is illegal as well as creating unsafe conditions for students and other drivers. The white painted curb just past the Rainier gate is for Summit Rainier drop off and pick up; please use it.
We are still seeking volunteers to direct traffic in front of the Rainier gate during the morning and afternoon: Please sign up for your choice of day and shift here (scroll down to On-campus). |
