For the 2013-14 school year, Rainier has moved to a new location on the south-east side of the Mt. Pleasant High School campus. The entrance for Rainier is on Marten Ave., east of S. Please see this announcement for more details and a map of the campus.

Phillis Chan, 10th grade coordinator

Helen Sironen, 9th grade coordiator

Camping Trip September 5-6
Drivers Needed
So far, we only have enough drivers to accommodate 83 of our 375 students! We need MORE DRIVERS. Don't wait any longer, please sign up NOW on our Camping Trip Sign Up List.

This is a mandatory trip for all 9th, 10th and 11th grade Rainier students and faculty. All students will need a signed permission slip before they will be allowed to participate. Please turn in permission slips and $25 camping trip fee by August 21. Students often say that the camping trip is one of the highlights of the year and is a Summit tradition.

For more information, please contact Rainier coordinators Patti Hares (11th grade), Phillis Chan (10th grade) or Helen Sironen (9th grade).
Mentor Group Parents Needed

Help communicate important information to the parents in your mentor group, assist in filling volunteer positions, and foster community. Spanish speakers are needed for each mentor group.

What is a Mentor Group?
Each Summit student is grouped with a small number of other students in the same grade level and given an faculty member as a mentor. The members of the Mentor Group check in with each other and their mentor on a regular basis.

What is a Parent Lead?
Each Mentor Group needs two Parent Leads: volunteers who act as a liaison between your child's mentor and the parents/guardians of the other students in your child's mentor group.

The Mentor Group Parent Lead's responsibilities include:
  • Forward school-wide information to families in your group (via email and/or phone), including volunteer opportunities
  • Organize mentor group events and/or school events along with your mentor teacher
  • Get to know the families in your mentor group while fostering community
A Lead Coordinator is also needed for each grade level. Lead Coordinators act as a liaison between Summit Rainier administration and the Mentor Group Leads.

We hope that you will consider becoming a Mentor Group Parent Lead or Mentor Group Parent Lead Coordinator, to make our students' time at Summit Rainier a positive one. If have any questions, please contact Janet Amaro or sign up here (scroll down to the Communications section).
