Message from the Directors
Dear Rainier Families,
Starting Monday, August 5, our office will be located at the new campus (located in the portables on the south side of the Mt. Pleasant High School campus - access by Marten Ave). If you need to turn in forms or have questions, please stop by during office hours: weekdays from 8am to 5pm.
We have a Facilities Work Day scheduled for Saturday, August 3. Many hands make light work, so come out and join us. Please RSVP for the August 3 Work Day on this list. We will be getting the insides of the classrooms ready for the school year. There is more information with the Items that are needed for the day. This is another work day scheduled for August 24 and we will schedule them periodically during the school year to keep our facilities in shape.
There will be NO Math session held on August 7. Our staff will be in Professional Development next week. Our Summer Mixer will be held Saturday, August 10 from 4-6pm on the Tahoma campus. It will be a joint Rainier/Tahoma event. Bring the whole family for games, activities and a raffle to kick off the year! New Student Orientation will be held from 9am-noon on August 12, 13 and 14 on the Rainier Campus. This is mandatory for all new students to attend. The first day of school for all students is August 19 at 9am.
School events are listed on the PIVOT calendar. If you have not yet been to the PIVOT website, please check it out and bookmark the site - it has all the information that you need to know about Summit San Jose: Rainier. We also encourage parents to join us at the monthly PIVOT meeting - our next meeting is August 8 at 6:30pm.
Respectfully,
Pamela Lamcke, Principal

Rainier Camping Trip
Patti Hares and Phillis Chan
Camping Trip September 5-6
This is a mandatory trip for all students in all grade levels. This trip will be for all 9th, 10th and 11th grade Rainier students and faculty. (Tahoma will be camping the previous week.) All students will need a signed permission slip before they will be allowed to participate.
Parents, please sign up to chaperone or drive. We will need 5-10 volunteers in the kitchen for each shift. For general information, please click here. To sign up to drive, chaperone or loan equipment, please sign up on the Camping Trip list. We need enough drivers to transport all of our students to and from the campsite. Drivers - you need to fill out new forms for the school year, even if you completed them last year.

Summer Mixer
Summer Mixer Chairperson, Kathy Sambrano
Please join us on August 10 from 4-6pm for our Summer Mixer. This is an event for new and returning Summit families to mingle and get to know each other. It will showcase our vibrant community, different committees, student clubs, and various events that take place in our school year.
Let's gather our community together for Appetizer & Desserts before school starts to mix and mingle Hawaiian style. There will be fun games, activities, and a raffle for the whole family! Bring chairs/ blankets.
Please sign up to bring something or staff one of the booths on the Summer Mixer Sign Up List. We would love for all families to bring an appetizer or dessert to share.
For more information, please email Summer Mixer Chairperson Kathy Sambrano.

Leadership Opportunity for Sophomores and Juniors
Attention SOPHOMORES and JUNIORS! We need your help welcoming the freshmen and new members of the Summit community!
Rainier's New Student Orientation (NSO) will take place from 9am-12noon on Augusut 12, 13, and 14. We need sophomores and juniors to help with fun community building activities, be part of a panel discussion, lead photo scavenger hunts, participate in skits, and much more!
If you are interested, please attend a training on Saturday, August 10th from 11am - 4pm at the Summit Tahoma campus. If you can not attend this training but still want to help, please contact Ms. Toyama at mtoyama@summitsanjose.org as soon as possible.
This is a great way to give back to the Summit community and gain leadership skills!
